Default cant wait for this weekend!!

so i am ordering some parts for the stang cause i have had the itch to mod again real bad. so when i was with my buddy, we were contemplating what we could do thats simple and we can do in my dorm parking lot...

so were thinking, and thinking and thinking and i was like shocks and struts are simple enough...lets do those!! he said ok and im going to be getting Tokico D-spec adjustables!! hahah..

but it doesnt end there!!!

we went on a lil cruise around town and i noticed a scratching sound coming from my front drivers side tire...i was like wtf?!

i had him drive the car a few hundred feet so could hear what it was....i couldnt determine it so i had him listen outside...we determined that it was time for new brakes.

since i am a college student, i cant fork over the $1000 for cobra brakes, i just ordered some pads. then i got thinking, i might was well do something cool with my brakes. so im going to buy new rotors and paint them flat black so that they dont rust (the parts that the pads dont touch). then im going to paint my calipers red! hahaha

sorry for the long post but i am excited

cliff notes:
getting Tokico D-spec shocks
new brake pads
painting rotors for rust protection
painting calipers for coolness factor

When did Sean paint his rotors? And Purestang, nice call on the Tokico D-Specs, a friend of mine has them on his and he thinks they're great.

and since over spring break i will be working 7-8 hours a day i will probably be getting lca's and some sway bars.

Plans sound good and fun. Let us know how you like the d-specs, I was originally going to get those but decided on the Illuminas. Which brake pads did you end up going with? I just did a brake job sunday, I picked up the front cobra kit for $400. Here's some pics of the rotors satin black, I plan on the painting the rear hats and rear calipers too. Beats looking at rust for sure.

They were $360 but with shipping came right at $400 (60 lb. package). I was getting ready to order new pads because mine were really bad but once I saw this sale I jumped on it. Comes with everything you need.

Those are some great mods. Going to be some good improvements. I am planning on doing the cobra brakes soon (this year lol) I have a track day in May so I might try to have it done before then.

Sean, what paint did you use to paint thoes. Just let the pads wear the paint off closer to the edge?

I used Duplicolor high heat paint. Satin black was all I could find, originally wanted flat back. I thought about silver to blend in, but seeing it on other looked kinda weird. Glad I went with satin, not too dull but not too shiny. Looks great behind a black rim. I taped off the outer edges and painted the hats and the little area around the center where the pad wouldn't touch. Then just let the pads clean off the edges and it turned out perfect.

Pure- I let my rotors dry over night. Might wanna let the paint on the rotors dry for awhile prior to putting them on. So when the pads clean the edges it doesn't peel any of the paint thats staying.

yea, im doing it the redneck way (no lift)

here is my process..

lift car up, swap shocks/struts, take off brake calipers and rotors, put wheels back on, chuck wheels on all 4 and put in gear.

i know it doesnt sound like a bright way to do things but i have been reasured that it wont hurt anything to do it this way.

so this way i dont have to worry about my car being on jacks for a night in the parking lot.

so i got the D-Specs in and wow...what a difference even though i have yet to fine tune it. i have it about 3/4 of the way to the firm side and the ride is phenomenal compared to stock.

now all i need to do is get my subframe connectors welded in (early march), lower control arms, and then some sway bars.

Awesome man! Suspension mods are awesome and addicting. So you've decided to keep the Gt? I remember you were considering selling it at one point.

The eibach front/rear sway bar kit looks good.

The rear sway I have is nothing special:

The front sway is KennyBrown. Also have KennyBrown subframe connectors. I'd go with Maximum Motorsports subframe connectors if your not already. Have heard the fitment is prefect.
