At least I don't feel SO stupid now, haha but I think I found out what he was talking about. I still don't get why he said it though, I don't see anything there.

The profiles look different, when you go to reply in a thread the reply section looks different to me. I believe Spike lost some of his admin and his name color changed I believe. The owner or who ever backed it up from like last week sometime. I think that's all I know, I just got home.

Yeah, Spike is just a basic mod now according to the list. Stephen was telling me that he called the owner of the site...so I don't know if that's why we got updated and the owners started to care again, but if so then that's awesome. Might explain his demotion, too. They might have gotten pissed when he called them.

I dunno, I dont think the mods and hadminds were really that different in thier accessavbility, more of just a name thing i think

Very true and I would have bitched him out too probably.

I see what he's talking about, it's the verification capitcha ****, but I still don't think it's good enough. Unless you have to verifi your E-Mail, which I wont know.

yes he did call them, and from what I understand it was a friendly interaction. I don't think he was "demoted" ..not for long at least.

Yeah, I guess there isn't a lot of difference here anymore huh? Or before the update anyway...we'll see how this version does.

I did call the company and talk to them. I was not hostile to them as I now know they are just a forum company. They own many many different sites and just don't keep to good of an eye on them. The site has been updated and the reason you saw spam was that it was brought back to an older save date and there was spam there. Now they are banned and we have better spam protection. As for why I am mod now. Well I am not sure why that happened. Maybe they were mad, maybe not? I don't know but I'm sure we will figure this out.

Did you get my message when it first happened the other day? I thought I did it because it happened after you told me to go post a thread on what I needed help with. I noticed the back up was set awhile ago and I'm glad the spam is fixed, although it didn't bother me that much. I was curious what happen to you being a Super Mod. So did you talk to the owner or anything?

Yay for a shity website company. LoL

I was an admin, though I could not do a whole bunch more then the Supermods could. Now I can not even ban someone lol. I did not go on hardly at all the whole weekend. Vday and all that stuff plus it was very nice out down here. As for the spam not bothering you, well you didn't have to delete 10 posts a day and ban 8 people a day every day.

Dustin, if you're still in contact with them, tell them to write a custom registration screen like the one i have on mustangmodding.com

Bot writers use real email addresses so verification won't work and they can read the captchas. The only thing that will keep the bots out is a custom registration page, because the people who program the bots won't program them specifically for this forum. They just do it for the general run of the mill vbullitten forums (which our registration is exactly like right now)

I would give it some time. This company owns a ton of car fourms: http://www.internetbrands.com/autonetwork and now our software version is the same as everyone else (in some cases even newer) and it doesn't look like the rest have spam problems

FWIW i havent had to delete any new spammers or spam threads.... with the constant barrage we were getting, this looks very promising.
