I'm thinking about getting a radar for my car so I know where them cops are at... Anyone have a prefernce? I want a decent one but not over the top or one that's crap.

I have had others from cheap Cobra ones to decent Bell tronics ones and the best is the Valentine1. Its not cheap but its well worth the cost. I have not been pulled over or ticketed since I got it. Its the only one to show you how many threats and where they are coming from. Do some research you will see the V1 is the win.

My buddy has a cheap-o Cobra one and loves it. He's always ranting and raving about how it's gotten him out of "tons of speeding and reckless driving tickets!"...and he's an idiot, so it's got to be good.
I personally don't see the point in them, as I am (or try to be) a law abiding citizen. But that's just me...

Thats the Cobra I got, had it about 2 years. Works very well, not the best, not worst, but it does the job for me. Has a built in compass which is pretty sweet lol. It's Cheap now, I paid $200 during a sale.

But totally get the Valentine1 if you don't mind the price.

You mean to tell us that you don't put that 4V 281 down the damn road every once in a while?

This is the one I have and I love it. Like King, I try to be law abiding, but dammit, it's hard sometimes. This one also warns about road construction and emergency vehicles, which really comes in handy.

It's nothing fancy, but it damn sure works for me. I don't like anything big and bulky. Just to give you an idea, I am 5'4" 105lbs give or take, and this thing is smaller than my hand. I really do love mine. It's the only Cobra I can truthfully say I have.

I don't like the one with those creepy robotic voices. *Shudders* This one just beeps and that's the way I like it.

While I don't do reckless driving etc... when I have to drive to the keys (my home town) which is 5 hours away doing the speed limit or to Boone NC which is over 14 doing the speed limit, you can bet I am not doing the speed limit on my way to those places. I can save over 2 hours on my way to NC just by going a bit quicker then the limit without worry thanks to my V1. Its also nice if you want to open up your car a bit for a min when no one is around so you have an idea of whats going on.

Can't go wrong with a V1, but I've had my 13-band Cobra for probably 4 years and never even been pulled over. It detects radar about a mile away and also has a 360* eye that watches out of the rear window. Laser is nearly impossible to "detect" because once it hits you it bouces back to the cop, so if they hit you with laser you're pretty much focked no matter what.. lol

I don't think you could go wrong with any Cobra, Valentine or Beltronics radar detector, they all work well.

I have an Escort Solo 2 that has saved my bacon a few times.

My next radar detector will be a Valentine 1.

You get what you pay for, and the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price...
