Default Mustang isnt driveable on the street

So tonight me, my girl, my buddy, and his girl were out driving the outskirts dicking around.. boring night..so we decided to just drive..

We're pulled over and hes smoking a cig and a CHP rolls up, lights on us, ect.

Asks me "is there anything under the hood we should know about" So I go ahead and tell him I've got a nitrous kit, seeing as I was going to have to pop my hood anyways..

He writes me up for it.

My buddy doesn't get written up for anything, all he has replaced is his throttle body..

So, now on my citation it says "Not suitable for the roadways, cannot be driven until in compliance"

So now I have to go to the B.A.R. and get my car examined... wonderful..

I can pop the nitrous kit out easily.. I have a CARB stamp for my intake, the only thing I'm worried about is my headers. I could probably pass them off for stock, except for the "HEADMAN HEADERS" stamp on one of the headers.. damnit..

This should be a fun one..

I dont know why you would tell them that you had a kit. I don't think he would of known.

Wow that shows how bad California sucks. I have been pulled over. I am supercharged, full exhaust, no cats, smelly *******, 5% tint and the cops never say **** here in Texas, but then again everything is bigger and better in Texas.

i have a similar story...

may 2007 i was in california about to go pick up the subaru i recently purchased. i was pulled over for going 55 in a 50 i was in a small town in the mountains just passed sacramento. he told me to watch my speeds or something like that. i gave the guy my registration and insurance and i was oblivious to the fact that my information was outdated. so i whipped out the military ID told him i just got back in town from a 1 year remote and that my parents didnt take care of my vehicles documents. that was strike 1, strike 2 was he thought the car was pretty loud before i shut it down dude got down to the ground and noted i had no cats. strike 3 no front license plate installed strike 4 5% window tint on the driver and passenger windows...thankfully this guy didnt get me for not having CARB stickers on my TB and plenum i told him it was part of the supercharger. after all of that the guy wanted to shoot the **** with me asking how fast have i taken it and he shared some high speed chase stories with me when he was in the camaro chase car. he wrecked 2 days of my leave because my peice was non-compliant.

you know what thats the nature of the beast...if you install **** that is not 50 state legal its the price you have to pay. far as i know nitrous solenoids can be installed but you cant have the tank in the car...am i wrong?

Nitrous solenoids cannot be installed without a CARB sticker. Apparently, there are 2 CARB kits, one is for a Camaro, one is for a Mustang.

One of the CHPs was cool. He was like "we normally don't just roll up on people, but 2 mustangs on the outskirts of town..looks like you guys were racing"

My buddy is a NHRA licensed driver... he isn't going to waste his tme on a ****** street race, and I won't risk my car street racing..

But he decided to shoot the **** with us while his partner was writing my long *** ticket..

And they can force you to pop your hood without a warrant. Its one of Govenor Schwartzendicks laws. They randomly pull over rice burners in town, just driving, and have htem on the side of the road, hoods popped and everything.

I wasn't going to lie to the cop because I knew he was going to make me pop my hood, if he wanted to, he could have impounded me. My bottle was disconnected, but still had some pressure in it. No reason to run it right now until I get my heater installed..

The cop tried to tell me that i was driving wreckless through town and he was following me. And there was nobody in site for many lights away. Complete bullshit and he then bitched at me because he said he wasnt gonna give me a ticket but since i had the "modified" look he wanted to see what i was up to...driving all by myself and do under the speed limit sounds pretty wreckless wouldnt you say?

Well problem is is its a ****** STAMP i think its tack welded on though..if so, i'll break the tack and just say I had to weld right there due to holes.

However a buddy of mine with an EVO got the same **** a few months back, and he said its like a fix it ticket, just pay the fine instead..

So I may go that route..

Wow, that is unbeleivable. I would hate the police if they did that to me. I had to get my inspection sticker this past weekend when I went home, no problems what-so-ever.

Meh.. TBH I'm really not concerned with it. I'll still drive my car, and I'll just take care of the fine.. simply because I would rather not take my car to a bunch of retards who don't know anything about an engine, they just want to see CARB stamps..

The beauty of California, they may say "this is the only way you can drive your car" but when you dish out a little cash, they completely forget about it..

Other then that **** this place.

I quite like living in Cali. Yeah we have more strict laws then most places, but cops can be dicks anywhere. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

And yes that sucks about what happened.
