Default street bikes

i have been looking into buying a street bike in the near future. I hear the the 1000cc bikes are def not good first bikes and that 600cc bieks are more then enough for the street. I hear that the CBR600s are good beginner bikes because they are user friendly. I just want to see what you bikers and peeps have to say about the different bikes.

I would not get a liter bike as your first bike. Unless you want to die. I'm a Yamaha guy so for me I would vote R6.

Something old that you only need liability insurance on, because you're not going to like what you see when you call your insurance agent.. lol

a ninja 250 is a great learner bike. it sits you upright instead of forward so you can learn how to control the bike better. low power so you wont get in trouble and very forgiving.

i took my test/safety course on a suzuki dr 200 (?) dual purpose bike. im glad i did, i passed top of the class over the people that were driving cruisers or sports bikes.

im still looking for my first bike but i have been riding my buddies 600 gsxr over the summer (he bought a newer 750). im thinking about going to a 04/05 750 if i can find a nicely price one over the winter

I got a Yamaha FZ6 and love it. nice and upright seating position, yet sporty enough to have fun. 600cc, 45mpg and its pretty darn fast if you wind in out. I'd stay away from a ninja 250...I have ridden one and they are SLOW...like, unsafe kinda slow.

I think my Dad pays a little over $120 every six months for coverage on his Harley. Sportster 1200. I'm sure they charge tons more for a 18-30 y.o. on a crotch rocket, than a 50 y.o. thats been riding since 15 on a Harley. So I was no help since thoes don't compare.
