Default insurance?!

So i got my mustang when i was 16 and am almost 20. I want to get a 90-93 gt in like a year. I am wondering how much cheaper it would be in insurance? I know it is older and all but i will be starting my OWN policy so would i just be fucked over if i did that?

It wouldn't be any cheaper. Are you on your parent's policy right now? If you are then it will be much more expensive to start your own.

your ins will go down some when you hit 25, as long as you have no incidents that occur. So keep your driving record clean and you should be OK then...

I remember when I first started driving at gae 19-20 I think, I was getting raped by the big ins companies charging me outrageous amounts monthly. I paid like $300-600 a month for very limited ins to drive. It was insane!

not true actually probably true if your under 21 though. I was on a parents account then when I turned 21 I had to go out and get my own policy. I went though a insurance agency, those deal with numerous companies. Just give one a call and get a quote can't hurt to ask. Mine actually went down but then again my parents had Allstate which is one of the most expensive ones for young drivers. At 21 you get a price break mine dropped about $200. It's now about 600 every 6 months on my own name.

WTF?...

You are all on crack.

it is a 15 year old car. It is worth to the insurance companies less than $4,000, yes it will be more expencive to insure than a 4banger 2.3l, but come on, yer only insuring about 4,000 worth of property...... Hell your V^ is probably worth more in the insurance companies eyes.

And if yer 20 years old you need to be on your own policy, you cannot stay on your parents forever, its time to get your own.

Shop around and get some quotes, i reccommend avoiding places like progressive, geico, titan, etc.... go with someone who doesent show you the prices of the other overly expencive auto groups.

I have a 2004 Muustang GT, an 84 honda civic, a 2002 saturn, my house, with my 24 yr wife on the policy who recently rear ended somone and already had an sr22 for driving without insurance a while back and it runs me about $175 a month through American Family Insurance

It doesn't work like that for a lot of ins companies. They don't really care about the car as much as the liability of the driver's age group. My dad put my name on the 1981 mustang to save money on the 00 (his name is on the 00 and it's something like 1200 a year with full coverage), For me to be on the 1981 POS mustang that's not even worth $100 it's $2700 a year. Is that fucked up? Yes, I told my dad how fucked we are getting on insurance but he assures me that is the best deal we can get around here. Liberty Mutual sucks donkey ****.

Jack having a house and auto is usually a discount of 15% and being married is another discount. So you can't really compare your rates to what him being a single 20 yr old with auto coverage only haha. But yes it usually goes down the older the car however a lot judge by the model: 6 cyl, GT, cobra, mach etc so that usually just cancels out the age of the car unless its historic haha. Location matters to like Texas the rates are higher than they were in IL because of a lot of uninsured motorists

Pcola your the definition of an insurance company raping you that's insane

If you get your own policy they may give you a discount for being a loyal customer for so many years. Mine did that when I got off my moms. They put the amount of years she had with State Farm and put that over to mine. I pay like $85 a month right now..
