You should have been able to get out simply for the reason you have classes. Tell them. I got a letter a few months ago for jury duty and I just called them and told them I had classes and everything was good.

You live in California right? Can you say "bench warrant?" Last time i had jury duty the judge was issuing those things left and right to people who were no-shows. Just go down there and let them know you're a student and what your situation is. I'm sure they will be willing to accommodate you. It's the people that totally blow it off that end up in trouble

Daaam. I have never ever been summoned to jury duty. I would get paid the 12 bucks plus what I missed for the 8 hours pay from work. I would defenately try to play that out for the duration. But getting picked for a serious crime case is ridiculess. You have to be a non news watching person who doesn't read the newspaper, and you can't even talk to anyone who knows anything about the case. ComeOn, Geez. First thing I do in the morning is read the paper.. But I'd still be willing to sit for a few hours, then not get picked cause, I'm informed, and hope they call me back for another round. I can tell if a criminal is guilty just by looking at him.. LOL.
