my first 360 suffered the red circle of death.

so i traded it in for a 360 elite.

I bought an additional fan that gets added to the rear plus I keep mine on top of the rack in the open. My wifes I put a 120mm fan to blow the hot air out of the cabinet plus I leave the door open. You have to understand that these new consoles are very fast and create alot of heat. You have to be responsible and keep it in a cool enviroment and if you like to play for many hours get a fan and blow air on it to keep it cool. No console is made to be played for many hours. All the console makers suggest to give it a break in between sessions but you could avoid turning it off by keep it cool with an additional fan.

The new version of the xbox all have HDMI. My wife has sometimes left the cabinet closed without powering on the cabinet fan several times and It has keep working. I installed a Blue led light to let her know if fan is on or off. With any electronics you could never have enough cooling. I aslo added fans to my home theater powered subwoofers amp plate to keep some air blowing across the components. You can not see the fan as its inside the sub. Its also good to have one blowing across an external hard drive as they get hot after prolonged use. I guess I put fans on everything

I got the rrod about a month ago. I called the number and they sent me a box out like they told you. I sent it to them and had it back within 2 weeks. It works great too! Just to make sure it doesn't happen again, I'm getting a chrome case with the extra cooling fans from this place:

My sons 360 died 4 times. each one was new and he had it elevated for better air circulation and the extra fans. We had no problem getting a new 360 from Best Buy the first 3, but on the 4th one we had to get a newer warranty, plus it was a newer version I guess, but he hasn't got the ring of death with this one and has been playing it daily for at least a year now.. X-Box knew there was a problem with their hardrives failing. And yes they do get hot as fck if you leave them on or play them 8 hrs straight. I think they got the issue under control now though..

Mine had 3 red flashing lights and locked up after 2-3 minutes of game play, I sent the request at 10:00pm tuesday to get the box to send it back, it just got here, I am hoping to have mine back in 2 weeks, we will see. pissed me off, I hadn't played COD4 in a couple of weeks and was just getting ready to enjoy a few rounds, or hours and then this.

Luckily my son borrowed one from his friend so I was able to play last night.
