i have a 98 gt with a 410 gear and 125 shot the car is 5 speed and i need a good set of street tires to hook up on which are better nitto 555r or bfg dragradials my friend has nittos on his ws6 which runs 12 20s and he has no problem hooking up but its automatic

 

hehe i vote for some slicks and an extra set of rims you can change when you get to the track. I have always heard nitto 555rs are the best but I dont know much about them.

 

Well, if you want to get about 8000 miles per set, but want to hook like a madman, I hear that the BFG tires are where its at. The Nitto's, while a great hooking tire, dont hook as well, but get about 15k miles per set, if you baby it a lot. If it were me, I would just buy two extra draglites, and put some 15 in slicks on them for the track. My car is damn squirly enough in the rain to put dr's on it. Just my opinion though.

 

I've heard that the new M/T Drag Radials hook pretty well.

 

mine handles fine at 100mph in the rain with nitto drags out back.

 

its harder to stay hooked up at launch with an auto because 3000 rpms goes straight to my wheels as soon as i hit the pedal. with a manual you can ease in the clutch.

i have 285 nittos on 18's and they spin a little but work really once heated up and on a warm track

 

BFG DRs > Nitto DRs
Personally, I'd get a set of ET Streets and be done with it.

why would that be stupid? a lite drizzle and the its not like they dont have a nice water setup, i think they are better in the rain than my good years. and dont act like you guys have never gone over 80mph in the rain before. its not like its that nuts.

 

A less contraversial thing to say would be:

"Man, those tires are soo good in the rain I bet they would hold at 100 mph".

 

I run Nitto 555r 18's on the street for daily driving, Have had not problems with rain. I even ran them when i had my01 lightning. But for the track i run 16 inch bfg drag radial and i cut 1.7 60 fts all the time.

 

My Kumho Ecsta MX Y rated are excellent sticky hard tires. you can feel how sticky they are.
