What do you think?
Im almost 20 in college. Have my v6 stang and only required to pay for everything other than insurance. Two things have been on my mind:
1) Keep the v6 and continue modding it with eventual engine stroking and etc
OR
2) Save my money, hault the v6 mods
The job i am planning on getting in 3-4 years will pay me pretty well so i am leaning towards keeping the 6 because it is pretty baller. What do you guys think?

easy for you to say, Im in about the same situation as stated above. Im keep the stand and do a few minor mods here and there. Once I graduate college Ill either go all out on the 6er and swap a motor etc. or just upgrade to a v8.
#7
continue modding the 6'er(apperance and etc.) then when you get a GT convert it over on it. then sell the stock 6'er
EDIT** or
keep the 6'er, get it payed off. then get a GT and use the 6'er as a DD and the GT for special occasions ha.

hahaha +1
if i wanted to get a gt i could get a nice one for under 9k but i dunno how badly the insurance would go up with the 01 v6 to a 01 gt. And the gas is almost like the same with the v6 and v8 both horrid lol

Which really isn't that hard to do..lol. No point in 'upgrading' to a GT now when there's family sedans out there putting down more power.
#12
damn grandma had a led foot!
#13
Well I'm not even talking about those, there are other cars out there that are starting to pass up the power of our cars that aren't jacked off to by every 16 year old in the country.

As for the family sedans, sure, you can get a family sedan import with 270 hp and 180ftlbs of torque, or you can go out and blow 40,000 on an srt-8 of your choice and still have a low 14 second car cause they are so ******* heavy. Hell, the new challanger SRT-8's main goal in performance was to hit low 14's.
Honestly, i dont see the point of sooping up a V6 to hang with a gt.... Yer gonna spend a bunch of money, just to have something that can hang with a stock GT.
What i reccommend is keep the 6er now for show, get all the show mods you would like, then in a few years when you graduate and start earning more, buy a GT or Mach 1 and swap all the parts over. Then you will be starting with a good platform and can put all yer money into making it faster cause it will already look cool as hell.
The way i see it, start out with the best base platform you can before you go heavy into engine mods, or yer just gonna be disappointed when you realize you could have a lot more power for the same amount spend if you waited and got a mach1.
I mean how much will you have to spend JUST to hang with a stock 99-04? cause a stock 99-04 isnt exactly all that mind blowingly fast. lol.

shuddup V6 boy. lol My stang holds its own against the newer ones. and looks cool as fawk.

When I S/C my turd I'm not hoping to hang with a GT, that's a worthless goal, it will be able to play with the faster cars.
I honestly think the reason a lot of you GT people tell people not to build their V6s and buy v8s is because you can't fathom the idea of a v6 mustang slaughtering a v8 mustang in the 1/4 mile...I think that's hilarious and is why I'm going to do it, in the end the price I would have paid wouldn't be more than having just bought a GT in the first place.

yeah thats funny cause they cost the same as a cobra too dont they?
also, i may be mistaken but the Lancer and wrx were originally built for rally racing purposes, the STI and EVO are the upper end models, and thier lower end serve well as economical commuters.
Comparing an STI and EVO against a cobra really isnt insulting to the cobra, after all, those cars WERE designed first and foremost for racing.
....rather than taking a non sports compact and trying to make it into something it was never meant to be IE: Neon SRT-4

Turbo or a S/C will scare a mach1.
Nitrous will eat up a GT
302 stroker kit is more like saying "lol hi there little girl"
So the GT is...probably 5 grand more..invest 5 grand into a sixer end up turboed or supercharged eat a gt up, have something a little different.
Spend about 500 keep up or beat GTs with nitrous.
Only thing I'd like to have is the v8 sound.. other then that... i'll be satisfied someday ;x

Yes, the only thing V8s will ever have on the V6 is the sound, V6 can have 600rwhp but still not have that nice v8 tone, but that makes it all the more interesting when people know it's a v6.
#22
I think you're missing something, when people put FI on their sixers, they don't just 'hang' with 99-04 gt's, they destroy them, and hang with Mach 1's, and in some cases give stock cobras are run for their money. lol

And stock cobra? Yeah, 32v N/a engines, NOT the 03/04 models.
Figure out the price tag to get a V6 to beat a Termie and also be reliable as a daily driver. Anyone can dump a 250 shot in a V6 and hope for one good run.
You can take ANY combination of modifications you want, MOD FOR MOD, the GT will ALWAYS beat the V6.

end of story
sorry, i know you guys like yourV6's but i really feel that little v6 engine is the biggest handicap and the first hurdle to overcome.
mod for mod, the GT will ALWAYS beat the V6

Lol... if saying that makes you feel better ok dude. lol
#25
Then again thats like saying "MOD FOR MOD COBRA ALWAYS BEATS A GT" or "MOD FOR MOD VETTE ALWAYS BEATS A COBRA"
Wheres the dog in that fight? Obviously it will its a bigger engine.
Just like comparing an evo to a gt ...give the gt a turbo and up its boost a little and it'll eat up the evo.
Supercharged vette or supercharged cobra? Which beats which?

Im not mising anything, put FI on a GT and it will DESTROY that FI V6.

I'm not talking about mod for mod, I'm talking about cost effectiveness, take your car for example..you're trying to get what, 17.5 for it? My car was $7,200, if I wanted to dump 10G's into it I could make it run circles around a GT and run better 1/4 than a stock cobra, yes a terminator. And after all that it'd be the same as just buying your GT, but with a lot more power..see where this is going? A stock GT runs around 250rwhp 280rwtq, varying on transmission and condition, you could do an N/A buildup to a V6 and match that, or go FI and surpass it spending less than $4,500.
Yes, mod for mod a GT will win, but that's not the point, if it was then why bother modding any car?

Steeda, keep in mind, in 3-4 years a low miles Mach 1 will be running for maybe 14-15 grand tops, 03/04 temie will be down in the 18-19's...
i say cut the bullshit, go all out, in the next few years start trying to save up whatever you can, get a good job, then drop 5-6 k on a low mileage 03 cobra terminator and finance the rest of it, you will start out with a 400hp car that has the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain that you need to have that much power.
the car will be older 3-4 years older, you will be 3-4 years older, your insurance will be relativly decent.
or a mach 1....
but honestly, start off big.
