lightning questions
i just became curios the other day, and wanted to know stuff about the SVT lightning
how much boost can you get out a stock one??
i saw they had alloy rods and pistons, why didn't they go with something like forged?? they have a forged crank...
how much boost do they have stock?
and whats too many miles for one to buy??
(my friend has one and just curios about it)
and anymore info is great

They have forged pistons and a good crank stock along with Manley rods. The 99-00 models have 360hp with a less efficient intercooler other small differences motor wise. The 01-04 have a better intercooler and MAF (90mm vs 80mm for 99-00 trucks) and you can do around 14-15psi is what i would max a stock motor to. They come with 8.5-9.5psi from the factory and are fast suckers. I want one really bad and its what i was looking for when i found the mustang and the mustang worked better with my budget.
Like any vehicle if it has alot of miles it will need parts sooner or later. Its hard to tell a truck without seeing it to say anything about them. Some are pampered and some are tortured.

95k miles on any car is up there... Lightnings are tough though. Like spike said, the higher the miles, the more likely things are to go wrong and need replacing. Id keep looking and try to find one with less miles personally.
