Never Buy From..
Alright I won't make this a long rant but long story short NEVER buy a Samsung product. Yes I admit that every once in a while you receive a defective product however most companies fix it in a timely manor. I'll make this into a sparknotes kind of thing for the people that don't like to read a lot haha:
1) Bought a home theater system in August 2007
2) Had a short in it and failed to work in November 2007 (had to ship it to NJ)
3) Received it in December and it was never fixed so they had me ship it back
4) I received it back mid January
5) The short came back at the end of January
6) I refused to have it fixed again and demanded a refund or an exchange
7) They agreed to exchange the system however I had to box the thing back up the box was 80lbs and it was to big to fix in the trunk of my car so I had to have UPS pick it up. Samsung refused to cover the pickup fee so shipping was at my expense for their broken product. (Still under 1 year warranty)
8) Had to call them back because they never knew they received my product
9) They figured out that they got it and then said they didn't have any of the same system to exchange so they offered my a full refund for $430 (on Feb 15th)
10) They said the refund check will take 4-6 weeks max to arrive
11) I called after 5 weeks and no one knew anything but the refund is documented so they sent an "urgent" email to get this resolved.
12) Called them last week when the 6 weeks expired and told them I'm fed up with this and want my money since right now I have nothing. The lady said they don't have proof that they received my system. I called the bull **** on that and said the refund was issued knowing they have it and I have the UPS proof of delivery stating the exact people that signed for it. She said she has to email them to make sure and would call me back
13) never heard back so now I have to call them again.
If you have any choice when buying products DON'T buy from Samsung.

My DLP T.V. is Samsung and works just fine. I've had a few Samsung phones as well and never had any problems with them. That sucks for your situation, but Samsung generally makes good products.
#3
yeah i have had a Samsung phone and MP3 player and had no issues with either of them. I guess you were just the one who had the bad luck with them. Hope it all works out for yah.

Yea I'm sure they make good products however the fun begins when your product stops working right. With a large company like this I'm just very aggravated/annoyed in their customer service. This issue should not take this long to resolve. Tomorrow's April which means I haven't had a working product (or anything being resolved) for about 6 months which in no way is acceptable

wow dude, im sorry to hear...i have a samsung home theater system (ht-x50, the 5 disk dvd one) and im watching the phillies game on it right now...i use mine about everyday to watch tv/movies or listen to music....the only thing that has happened is the sub cuts out every now and then but that was solved by switching to a different gauge wire

Oh well, I just hope I get the check before I move to Texas because that will just be another hassle that I'm sure they would screw up

dude, that thing is huge!!!! lol...my lil 800 watt system provides more than enough for me lol.. how much did you pay? i paid 180 out the door and havent had a single thing wrong with it. the kid in the room next to me has the same one as i except the 1 disk version and his works just as well....and a kid in another suite has the older model of mine and his works great...maybe you just got a bad model...i would suggest trying to buy the lower model...

That sucks...The wife and I bought a Samsung tv and home theater in a box when we moved into our apartment and we had a problem with the receiver. It is a 5 disc dvd changer and the door was jammed. Luckily I had no dvds in at the time and bought the circuit city extended warranty for like $35 extra. Took it back to circuit city and they replaced just the receiver no questions asked. Haven't had any problems since.

You get what you pay for.....peiople want stuff as cheap as possible, and these companies no longer have any customer service personnel. Things were a lot different back in 1975 when you could just take back your stereo to the neighborhood store and get it taken care of.

Eh.... Samsung makes decent LCD Tv's, but i would stay away from thier home theater stuff.
Just a reccommendation to everyone...
HOME THEATER IN A BOX 101.
If a brand is known for thier TV's, then dont buy thier audio stuff.
I have 2 Panasonic plasmas, every TV i ever bought was Panasonic, i think they without a doubt make the best television sets out there, especially with thier plasma's as they are years ahead of everyone else.
As far as the panasonic TV's go, i cant say enough.
However, you wouldnt catch me buying a crappy home theater in a box from them because it will probably be junk.
Avoid audio from LG, Zenith, Magnavox, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Sharp.. Thier cash cows are the TV's, thier audio systems are pretty much junk in my view.
and BY ALL MEANS do NOT buy crap from APEX, Insignia, Viola, Westinghouse, ior any other crappy knockoff brand that claims to have technology from a better brand, cause it might have a previsous generation B stock display does not mean it has a decent tuner or any other worthwhile internals. The only time you would want to buy audio from a brand you dont recognize is if the price is so rediculously high that your jaw hits the floor upon seeing the pricetage, then yer in the baller **** like KRELL, Adcom, Conrad Johnson, JMLabs, Classe, Sonus Faber, McIntosh, Martin Logan, Ohm, etc....
When going for AFFORDABLE(aka budget) audio at places like Best Buy go for the brands that specialize in audio, Denon, JBL, Klipsh, KEF, Harman Kardan, etc..
there are some crossover brans like Sony, Phillips, and Pioneer which are decent but i sould still avoid these.

The front l/r speakers in my setup are from Jm Labs, i have a nice set of thier smaller Chorus speakers. Well, one day i was working on some wiring in the back and totally vaporized the voicecoil on my right speaker's woofer.
CRAP, there goes a $400 speaker. (in the grand scheme of high end audio they are pretty inexpencive, compared to budget audio they are pretty pricey, but you get every single dollars with, i cant say enough about these speakers)
So i manage to track down JM Labs head office in france, i found an email address for them to see if i could order a new driver from them, the guy asked me my address and model number and shipped me a replacement driver straight from France with no questions asked, 100% free of charge, no reciept needed, no serial number, no warranty.
You cant beat that.
Sometimes yer better off spending more on quality equipment with a smaller company than a bang-for-the-buck setup with a big company.

Eh, I'm happy enough with my home theater in a box. I just wanted surround and better sound than the tv speakers give because the tv is in a large room where sound doesn't travel well. It does it's job and does it good enough. I think it depends on what you care about. You can't have the best of everything! Or most of us can't anyways.

no highs or lows. . . it must be Bose!

a lot of the no-name brands like westing house, apex, viola, they use old stock displays, the ones that are being phased out by the larger brands like sony, panasonic, pioneer, etc, they will get the displays that had produced for the older models and stuff 2nd rate tuners and power supplies in them and advertize them to be the same quality as the big brands.
i had a friened with a viola plasma, claimed to have the same display as a phillips, man that thing was junk. lol. broke after a year cause he moved it a few inches.

The buddy of mine i mentioned in my last post replaced his viola plasma that broke with a samsung and he loved it, and i gotta say it looked damn nice.

lol... i diddnt mean any offence, but i guess i am somewhat snobby about electronics.

sigh still no check called again today and got the same speech as the last 3 weeks about them emailing the "rebate center" and will call me when they hear something. Told them I'm not believing that since I haven't gotten a call anytime in the last three weeks and I call them once a week. Asked her to put me on hold and call the "rebate center" however, to my surprise the rebate center doesn't have a telephone. LOL all I could do is laugh at that one its 2008 and one of their departments don't have a phone. I'm starting to believe there is no rebate center they speak of. Right now it basically just seems that they are saying if you want your money sue us. Guess I'll try and get the Better Business Bureau involved. Hopefully they can get Samsung to do something other than BS their customers Next week will be 9 weeks without a check, 4 months without a product and 6 consecutive months without a working product.
