yeah i get the dealer markup thing but arent they supposed to advertise the price including the markup...have a sticker on it that says 60000 not a sticker that says 46000 just to hook people in

That's just MSRP.. Suggested Retail Price (and it's labled as such)

they can charge whatever they want.

however, if you see it advertised in the newspaper for $48K.. then it's a whole different story.

Same as Zo6 vettes,Ford GT,GT500, New camaro's will more then likely be in the same boat. And any other popular car that comes out. They charge more cause people will pay it. Why are you surprised.

again i'm not surprised at the concept of markup...i just thought they had to put the actual price somewhere on the car...sort of like walkin into bestbuy and seein a 60inch hdtv for 300 bucks advertised...and then when you try to buy it the cashier says ohhh its 10 grand....thought it was the same idea

I hear ya. I think they should have to put the price on the car including the mark up. I love ford cars, but I hate dealing with their sales people...most of the time they are nothing but snake oil salesmen.

I dont think the dealer broke any laws. they are just trying to rape and pillage your wallet as much as possible.

Like someone said.....MSRP. This is about the only industry where this term is used and they have the legal right to sell it for whatever they want.

Houses are the same. People used to pay more then asking price for a house all the time.

If the car was listed at $45k in the newspaper, then you have a claim. But, if the ad said something like "Hey, check out the new GT-500 with an MSRP of $45k", then you don't.

Legal? Yes. Ethical? Well, that is up for debate. As the consumer, though, you have the right to not buy it. Also, since most cars sell for less then MSRP, I guess the dealers could always sue the rest of us for buying under false pretenses. You can't have it both ways.

What pisses me off is that back in 1967, a GT-500 could be bought by a highschool kid. Today, it is the same dam kid looking at the car, except he is now a 55 year old excecutive making $300k per year.

You won't find too many hourly, blue color folks owning one of these or even a new GT unless the car payment is more then their house payment.

Ford is going down the same road that Chevy did when the Camero went away. It is getting fatter and more expensive with each model.

However, for those of us with older Mustangs, the bloated expensive new ones are certainly helping the resale of ours and the desire to purchase after-market parts.

By the time I get done with my project I could of purchased a Shelby but I dont care. Im supporting the aftermarket that actually care about what you think. I purchased my last Ford a long time ago in 1993. Since then I puchased another domestic hated it then an import which I love the quality and service. Im seeing alot of negative out of Ford and positive from Toyota. Perception is extremely important. Everybody I give advise to I tell them to buy Toyota few years back it would of been a Ford.

I actually just back from a seminar on Business image and perception that I have to teach everyone in my Branch 300plus. One of the main focus items for me is that everyone has to go through course including all managers. We are a company and all need to be on the same page know Understand our Values, where we came from and where we are going. Unfortunate Ford is making great looking, desirable products but the Dealers are forgetting how they got there which is due largely by us the customers.

Like I have mentioned in a previous post stop advertising Ford remove all emblems.

I don't understand the mark up in your area.. It's nearly non-existant here in TN on the GT-500's now..

I see one in the paper here today set at $55k. It's all about supply and demand and the consumer's ability to purchase.
