Default More Bad news.

I'm really starting to get depressed over this injury, not working, continued pain, no progress in therapy.

Been having real bad pain for a couple weeks now, thought it was just soreness from therapy, but it's been getting worse. Then to make matters worse, walking up the stairs Sat morning, i slipped and started to fall, and accidentally/instinctively put my right arm out to stop the fall, and when my arm hit the stair, the pain was excruciating...so bad it brought tears to my eyes.

Iced it the rest of the weekend, but Monday it was no better, my arm swelled up 3 times it's normal size and turned deep red. Called the doc, and they got me in Tuesday the 20th.

Xrays were inconclusive, so they have me down for a CT Scan next week to make sure I didn't break anything again, then they are sending me for an MRI.

Doctor thinks that because of the lack of progress in therapy, i most likely some ruptured tendons and/or ligaments, and will require surgery.

this is really frustrating, and it's depressing me. all therapy on my arm has been suspended, im back in a sling, and I'm not allowed to drive again.

getting really sick of this crap, all i want to do is heal and go back to my normal life the way it was before the accident, but crap just keeps getting worse and worse.

i've also been complaing to the doctor about the continuing pain, and all he said 3 weeks ago was "well i don't know why you're having pain like this". and he prescribes me the third painkiller in the last 2 1/2 months, and like the others before it, it doesn't work.

guess it's all just guess work in a white coat. this guy makes $120,000 a year doing this crap, and can't even get it right. he gets his paychecks, and I get worse and worse.

Seek another doctor. Not all doctors have the same level of expertise.

i wish it was that simple, but since it's a workmans comp thing, it doesnt work that way. My only option is to request a panel, which would assign a new doctor, and it's a roll of the dice. you could get a better doctor, or you could get a worse doctor. also the panel could take up to 45 days.

doctor... 120K/yr? You're smokin crack. Try twice that or more. Not that it matters but you should be more frustrated at them making 250K/yr.

FWIW, I've had chronic migraines for 20+ years. Doctor after doctor tries to figure it out and nothing ever comes of it. They all figure out opiates are the only thing that kill the headache and I hate opiates and they're hesitant to prescribe them so I end up screwed in the end with brain-freeze that lasts for days at a poke and a lack of sufficient amounts of the treatment, which I detest taking anyway. Ain't life cool?

That really sucks man. I'd ask the doctor for a referral to an osteopath, or sports doctor. That's what I've had working on me and he seems to really know what he's talking about. Best of luck to you man.

Unfortunatly they say doctors "Practice" medicine for a reason.

The bad thing is when some doctors decide they know what is wrong with you and if you come up with new symptoms they think you are making it up. As if they are trying to MAKE you have what they think you do.

Good luck man

oh believe me i got one a week after the accident happened (09/06/2007), cause i had just moved to Tennessee, and i had no idea what the laws were.

im gonna get a nice settlement out of it thats for sure, once they figure out what the hell is going on with my arm.

Doc told me to do that physical therapy stuff...

I stretched all the ligaments and **** in my back... real bad too... from the accident I was in last May...

Directly after the accident, I went to work. Not work like most people go to, Heavy construction working on roads and water mains work...

lol... Needless to say that didn't help. I was taking advil for awhile. But it got to the point where I could take 10 advil and my back would still hurt.

I know how ya feel... Injuries that won't go away suck... But I ain't got time for therapy... I've gotten used to the back pain... I can ignore it now...

ok doctor confirmed my arm is still broke, but not in the sense as i re-broke it or made it worse or anything. he said it still has some healing to do, and that's more than likely contributing to the majority of my pain, and did note that my arm is healing slower than some of the patients he has seen in the past.

they are gonna send me for an MRI next week as a precaution, cause the doc saw how swollen my forearm still was near the crook of my elbow but to the outside of my right arm. so they wanna check for ligament/tendon damage.

if the MRI comes back negative...they are gonna put me under with anesthesia and straighten my arm out and force the scar tissue to break away. i'll be mighty sore when i wake up, but they're gonna get me into phy. therapy right away pretty rigorously so the scar tissue doesn't redevelop and they can better stretch my arm out.

so that's at least some optimistic news. hope i can get healed and make progress in phy. therapy so i can get back to life. this sitting around all the time is driving me nuts.

that makes 2 of us...i mean sleepin in staying up all night, and doing stuff to my car w/ my good arm is fun and all, but it does get boring.

but the good thing is, i should get a pretty nice little settlement, which will go to pay some bills off and pay for school.

Just going with how sore mine was everytime I maxed out my brace thingy, that's going to hurt something fierce. Ask for some seriously good pain killers man.
