Default Considering New GT/CS

I went to the dealership today, and checked out a new GT/CS. It was a 5 speed, and it had 3.55 gears. I was reading through it all, and i liked the fact that it had the 18" Bullitts, but the tires are really skinny. Only 235's. What the hell is up with that? Also, the car was dirty as S***. The rotors were rusted, it looked like crap. I wouldn't buy that exact one, but it was "on sale" for around 28k. It only had like 30 miles on it. If it got cleaned up, it'd look nice.

Heres my problem:
I always wanted an 03-04 Cobra, but I also drive this car everyday. A terminator is basically my dream car. I can't find any around here though.

Which is more practical?

If you drive with a light foot, either could be practical as far as V8s go, getting probably 15-17 mpg in the city. The boost on the Cobra doesn't kick in until you go more than half throttle. The major difference economically speaking would be the 30-40 cents a gallon your spending on gas. With casual driving, I fill up my tank on average, every 10 days. With the Mach, thats $1500 a year, with the GT, just over $1200 a year. If I'm feeling frisky, I can drain a tank of gas in a few hours of driving.

Mustangs are built to haul people, so it depends on how you drive and what you would prefer. With a new car, you get a warranty, with an 03-04, you'll be lucky to find one with an extended warranty and questionable abuse history.

If I buy a 03/04 Cobra, I personally wouldn't want to drive it as a daily.

Lots to consider there.....I think the new GT would be a better DD, but if it were me, I would definately get a Cobra over the GT for the same price. But there are other financial factors to consider too, such as warranty and better financing on the new car.

Exactly. A terminator is like, my dream car, but it would also definitely be my daily driver. Its so hard to choose. The fact that the supercharger only kicks in at half throttle is a good thing. I'm just really **** about my car. I keep my GT clean at all times, if i hit a mud puddle I freak out. I just can't imagine having an 03-04 Cobra, i'd go crazy. I'd be so afraid to get it dirty.

Its odd how I'd be more afraid to get a used 03-04 Cobra dirty than a brand new GT. ha.

I'd go with the terminator if i were you. however if you're strapped for cash or it might put you in a financial crunch, then I would wait a little while and clear some things up.

also, you can always contact ford and purchase an extended warranty (they have different mileages), but they are costly. you might be able to find some outsourcing companies that provide extended warranties... i've seen them out there between $800 - $2500, but usually they cover everything bumper to bumper for the term of the warranty.

also if you watch SVTPerformance.com there are usually some good deals on there as well.

As badass as Terminators are, they were the last ones to be built on the ancient 1979 Mustang platform. The s197's aren't just an improvement, they're a complete, ground up renovation.

As much as I hate to say it, I'd take a 08 GT over a terminator I think.

I might get a shitty interest rate on the Cobra. If anyone sees one around in the Southern Jersey area, let me know!
