Anybody have one? Likes/dislikes...me and the wife are thinking about getting the 6cyl model.

Random thought: there is some guy with a 6 cylinder charger who drives around twentynine palms and yucca revving at everyone and thinking he's hot ****. I even had him revving at me once when i was sitting in a parking space waiting to pick up my girl from work. Ever seen this tool when you're in town?

 

well i havent been in town for about 6 months...lol...im "occupied" right now. But when i get home i hope he revs it up, cause i will shut it up. We want to get a silver 300 though, but the v6 would be alot better for gas, i already have the sports car.

There is a old blue nova that i have ran into a few times in town and he thought he was hot ****...lol

 

if you get a v6, get the 3.5L, its one of Chrysler's best engines. So basically you have to get the touring model, or the limited. The limited is nicer on the inside and comes with leather standard plus other goodies you cant get in the touring model. I used to sell Chryslers several years ago, and I have couple good friends that still do. If you want a control number for employee pricing send me a PM.

 

chrysler is still having huge quality problems, Daimler just dumped the whole division, they're using a lifetime drivetrain warranty... I see a lot of signs that they're going to evaporate. There just isn't room for a 3rd American car company any more. Shame...their designs were at least interesting looking.

I'd avoid chrysler. I've never been happy with their cars. It's almost like owning a Alfa Romeo... sure it's cool looking and gear heads love that but they will in fact leave you standing amid a cloud of steam on the side of the road at the worst time.

 

well that sounds kinda scary/bad. Well i see you and 03DSG duking this one out. Its just that we like the look and engine of the car. It would be a good family car also, plenty roomy.

 

probably not... I hate chrysler but I like their cars. They look good and run bad. Such is life. If you want a family car, get a mini-van. Honda and Toyota both make great minivans with good features and excellent reliability. I finally ponied up to the bar and brought a Honda minivan home a few months back. Best decision I've made so far.

 

well thats the thing, there is NO way we are getting a minivan. Its gotta be a fullsize car. I hate vans and so does the wife(which is good, saved an argument) I've thought about accords, she has one now, but the new ones are pretty nice. I like the sporty look of the 300 but if the thing runs like **** then i dont want to waste money and time with it.

 

I think we found your solution.

One of my friends has a v6 accord with all the goodies (including the navigation system) and it's actually a really nice car for the money.

 

I have had Magnum and Chargers for company cars. While the 300 looks like a hearse, I had great luck with them. Be sure to get the 3.5 if you get a V-6 and don't worry about the quality issues too much. They are dealing on these things (0%) and have great warranties.

I think the boring Ford 500 would be a good choice though. I see huge rebates and 0% on them too and they are also available in 4WD.

BUT, if you want a really nice, albeit unique sedan, check out certified used Saabs. They certified used have the best warrenty in the market and you will pay 50% for a 2 year old one over new. I have a 9-3 that I bought with 22k on it and I can tell you, they treat you like gold when you go in for service. The 9-3 might be a little small for you, but the 9-5 is larger.

 

Ford is trying to get rid of the remaining 500's so they can start selling it as the taurus again, so you could get one of those super cheap.

 

yea, I noticed a Ford Freestyle the other day with a Taurus logo.

 

i've driven a company charger...not bad although a bit sluggish but my main problem with the 300 and its siblings is that there are so damn many of em....never mind that its a police car now and often even a cab...but its all over the place

 

yeah the freestyle is turning into the Taurus X. Why ford stopped selling a Taurus model to begin with is beyond me. They will sell millions of those cars now based solely on the fact that they are calling them Taurus again


Edit for streetracer: since there are so many 300's and chargers are parts to fix one relatively easy to come by? that could be an advantage.

 

i LOVE BMW's, but havent glanced at the Saab yet. Why is it that you only paid half for a 2 year old car? The resale is that low on them? How would they let a quality car go for so cheap?

 

just buy what you feel is right for you. The 300 is a well designed car, but alot chryslers other products blow which brings it down. If you really want to get the most bang for your buck buy used. with the lease market so hot now, the used car market is flat. let someone else take the hit on a trade in. I bet there are tons of good 2 year old used cars 15k miles or less for under 18K or even less. If you go to buy a used car, stay away from B lots, these places with names like "Jimbos used car emporium" or other **** like that. These guys get the tables scraps. Get a used car from an A lot...as in ford, gm or chrysler dealer. that way you get a good car, plus you can buy an extended warranty. one more thing, you can usually get about 2-3k off the posted sticker price of a used car, thats about it. you can try for more, but its rare. If someone tells you they get 5k off used cars all the time, they're BS-ing you. If you want any more tips just ask.

 

That is because anyone who buys a new car should have their heads examined #1, and #2 Saabs depreciate faster then most. Now, don't get me wrong, I too have bought new cars before, but that did not make me smart and I will probably do it again.

Saabs are sort of weird, they depreciate in the first few years like nuts and then they sort of seem to stop. You can always get top-dollar for a clean used one.

I paid $17k for mine when new ones were selling for nearly double that. Car had 23k on it and came with a 100k bumber to bumber, Saab warranty. I could probably keep it for 5 years and still get 6-7k for it.

Recently, though, I think prices have dropped even more on used ones as Saab is faced now with discounting new cars which is something they never did much of in the past.

Saabs have lots of strange options. They are nice cars and you will probably never have drivetrain problems, but they are none to have issues. This is why I think the warranty is really important.

 

My uncle has a 5.7 Magnum and he say if you treat it well it treats you well. They haven't had a problem w/ it for 2 years, nice car lots of power

IMO, not many more amazing looking cars than a 300 SRT8

but even the regular ones, with some decent looking wheels are amazing looking cars. Such an awesome mobster look.

 

well thats the thing, this car CANT be the sports car/mobster look or be fast at all. Thats what our mustang is for. We need a family car, because in the next 2 years we will be starting up the FAM.

 

We have an 06 300C (Hemi), as well as an 07 Mustang GT convertable. Both are awsome cars. The 300C is well-built, fast, comfortable, and trouble-free. Gas mileage is about the same as the GT.

 

but i dont want the performance in the car, i want a 6cyl to save on some gas. I was thinking either the new accords, 300, or bmw/saab.

we have a 2007 g35 sedan and gas is 30mpg for us. Very Nice car.

 

why not the new Chevy Malibu 3.6 Liter v6 or 4 Cyl 2.4 i like the car its kind of sporty and it all so comes in a HYBRID.

 

its funny there are cars out there that get more mpg than a hybrid

Hybrids suck! I am very dissappointed in the MPG that these things get. You are 100% correct. They should do much better.
