Insurance will pay, but they will require the deductable on that one.
My wife's jeep got hit hard in the parking lot a few years ago. $1500 in damage. Caught the van that hit in on video tape. Could not make out the entire plat number on the video. never caught the guy. I was out $500 for deductable. I could not swing a deal with a shop, cuz she was out of town when it happened.
To be honest, you are better off if there is a lot of damage. Hopefully the bumper is ruined. Why? Well you will get about $1000 for the bumper, paint and labor. Figure you can get a nice after-market bumber for a lot less and get it painted and only be out a few bucks.

I feel yer pain, my door got whacked recently and put a nice chip in it. luckly it was small enough that i could use the touchup paint i got from ford. You cant even see it unless you know where to look.
unfortunatly, i know where to look, so to me it stands out like a beacon

that sucks.
i typically part my car a bit further away from the idiots when i hit stores. bad enough i still have a couple of dings in the fender and a nice keymark right above the ford emblem because of dipshiits.

Original or creative?
If you try to keep your car pristine and original, you can't drive it every day - sooner or later, somebody will zap it. I'm an old guy who's been down that path, and its full of pain.
Maybe that's why I bought my current 02 GT convt. as a front end wreck. No virgin, I could use it as a blank canvas and never worry that the replacement of original parts would forever deny it center stage at the Barrett Jackson 2030 auction!
I put a Cervini stalker ram air hood and matching bumper with PIAA foglights on the car, then tricked out the motor with some nice parts (accufab, C&L, MAC, BBK, Fox Lake, Comp Cams, Steeda, etc.). Total investment including baer brakes, rotors, pads, steeda g-trac kit, etc. is still well under $20,000 on a car I bought with 3600 miles on it (currently has 15000 miles). It wins first place trophies at shows and runs well, though I don't run it on the track very often. I can drive it knowing that if the worst happens, it will probably just be another opportunity to express my creative side with a new iteration of Mustang style.
I'm sad that your ride was hit, but rather than rage and get depressed, try to view it as an opportunity to make a change, renewal or upgrade. You can't undo the damage - so make of it a time to make the car more original or better suited to your unique vision.
Of course, if we could catch the slime that did this, I would gleefully help you smack down the cowardly insect!

I have had my 04 Durango hit 6 times already front and rear bumper plus 1 ding in the side all while parked. I had repaired everything and the front and rear bumper have been hit yet again the rear having the worst hit to date. You have all these sucker moms and kids drivng these big SUVs and dont know how to judge distance. If I were you I would buy a roush front bumper and upgrade the look of your GT. I really would like to get the new shleby cobra but I cant see myself spending 40-45k to have all these morons mess it up. I told my wife if we did get it I would drive it on weekends and not park anywhere crowed but what fun would that be.

HAHAHA, "cant even open a disco" LOL, that man is funny as crap. Anyways, sorry your car got hit, but dont stress too much, and I know its hard to say, but its just a car, not worth killing or dying from a heart attack, just thank god you arent the way other people are and that you care about your stuff. Its hard, but just fix it. And definately if its bad enough, let ins. help.
