Only speeding ticket I have ever got was in my beater 86 buick skyhawk. Was doing 50 in a 35 and crested a small hill and there was a local cop coming towards me. (This municipality writes tickets first and asks questions later). He didnt hesitate to hit the cherries and bust a u-turn.
He pulls me over, asks for license, and without any questions, he walks back to his car hes muttering "Im issueing you a citation". No chance of getting out of that one.

I got my first ticket when I was 16. failure to stop for stop sign. (rolled through it as we all do). My 2nd ticket when I was 21 (same thing). Never had a speeding ticket, and I drove a 69 GTO for 3 years, 69 camoaro for 2 years, 79 Z-28 for 9 years, and various other makes and models, some fast, some trying to be fast. I try to keep it in the reasonable speed range most of the time. I seem to have a feeling to stay in the speed limit when a cop is around. They are pretty easy to spot if your looking for them. Anyway I'm 46 yrs old and 2 tickets. Not too bad for getting away once with street racing with some friends in the early 80's. Cops let us all goccasion1

This true if you are the only person on the road and the cop has an instant-on radar. However if there are others on the road the detector will pick up the cop hitting them. Then you can slow down

I had the same thing, but returned it almost immediately after I got it. When I saw a copper pointing his damn radar gun at me and my 330 dollar escort was doing nothing, I went to best buy instead of home and got my money back. I was close enough to see his facial expression: police neutral.

Urban driving sucks sometimes because of that. The one good thing about going to drill in Marsailles, IL was there was absolutely nothing there, and a good chance to put my foot into the...um.... fuel injectors.

Everyone makes mistakes - anyone who thinks different is an idiot.

The important point is whether or not one learns from the mistakes and faces the consequences with class and sincerity.

Take your punishment with humility and good nature. Be kind to those who must be parents instead of friends this time.

Time will heal the wounds (which I suspect will not be as severe as they seem right now), and you will hopefully grow a little in stature in the eyes of your parents and friends as a result of how you handle a difficult situation.

Anyone can drop the hammer on a fast car and go too fast.

Not everyone can handle the consequences with good grace.

Best of Luck

I've really thought my radar detector has been worth the money.. I definately like it. But then again I didn't pay retail price for it.. I work at Best Buy and the discount is sweet, lol

Radar detectors are great but from what I've heard most cops use Laser now. My detector won't pick that up until it's hit and by then it's too late.

My best advice if you want to speed... find a runner (someone speeding). Let them get about 10 car lengths in front of you and just try and keep up. This worked pretty good for me when I drove to Florida last year (about a 7 hour drive from Little Rock, Arkansas).

Most radars can't pickup laser until you're hit.. the thing about laser though is you can normally avoid it all on your own because the cop has to be parked, has to have his window down, has to be a clear day, and has to aim it directly at you, and it is suppose to be a faily big gun like thing. If you live in a small enough town the boys down at the precinct still probably won't have laser cuz it's expensive. I have heard that some insurance companies buy them for different precincts so they can raise insurance rates, I dunno how true that is but it makes sense.

Radar is unbelievably inaccurate to begin with though
