Architecture?

Architecture?
So I'm seriously considering taking up architecture as a career. i'd probably become an architectural drafter/architectural designer. the better ones make 100+ a year, which is damn comfortable to me. plus i'd design my own house, make really dope..like with a lazy river or somethin ..
anyway..anyone have any experience with architecture, or know anyone who is becomming, or who is one? anyone try to follow that path and fail? any advice, experience, or just some general architectural knowledge would be sweet

All I know is if you are serious about it, then you better get started now. Architecture requires quite a bit of school. I considered it at one time, but I find it to be really boring. Thats why I took up Visual Effects. You should find a career that you enjoy and not get into it for the money. Yeah a lot of money would be nice, but if you hate going to your job every day then I don't see the point.

This man speaks the truth! There is nothing worse than waking up every morning and saying to yourself "f*** I hate my job" If it's something that interests you then go for it and the money will come. If you can find a career that you like and are good at the money will be there. You might not be the richest person on the block, but at least you'll be happy and you can't put a price tag on that.

well i never see him during the school year because hes always got homework or work. He says school sucks, but what college kid doesnt? I know I always did... and i gotta go back for more. Doesnt seem like its harder than any other course but ive seen a lot of his art projects and they get to do some cool stuff.

Yeah im majoring in Industrial design: Design and Development which is more on the Drafting side. Basically using Auto CAD and microstation as well as the old fashion drafting. So far i like it. The highest math i have to take is Trig which isnt that bad. I hope to one day work for a car company such as Ford etc. That way i can actually work on the design of the cars indirectly, you know like just drawing up switches and such the minor stuff on a car. On the bright side ill get a discount when i go to buy a car

i go to lawrence tech university in michigan. which is one of the top engineering/ arch. schools in the state. Im not in the arc program, but i have friends that are, im in contruction management which is grouped in with civil engineering. but what i do know is that my program and the arch program share alot of the same math classes. especially statics and structures, if you go to a high end arch school you will have to be good at engineering math period. so make sure you are willing to put time into it. most people who take arch classes and say they suck only took an intro class and looked at pictures all day and listened to boring lectures (i cant blame them). but I've had to take design classes and those are fun, but time consuming. especially since they want us the learn to draw by hand, and I dont mean circles and squares either. I mean design a complete floor plan with elevations and wall sections detailed with every item with perfect line work and no errors. that **** takes time. If you know someone in that field or going to school for it, pick their brain about it. you may find its not what you want.

Im in Civil Engineering, my second year. Be ready for some "pull your hair out" math and engineering type courses. Its not too bad if you really like it (put time into it). You have to want it, and it is what you make of it, much like anything in life.

If your looking at schools Virginia Tech and University of Maryland have really good Engineering school that deal with arch. My neighbor and close family friend graduated from UMD and designs malls and large corp. buildings. He's been doing it for a real long time but like everyone is telling you be prepared for a rediculous work schedual, he never gets time off and does alota work at home just so he can spend time with his family. But some of the places he's created are bad ***...
