naw its just the aftercooler kit for vortec "i think" fits on the side of the valve cover but it might not fit between the valve cover and the side of the engine bay. thats all.

so where would you have to place it then...is there any way to modify it so that it can fit else where or does it have to sit on the side...thanks for taking the time to read this...

No problem man, it won't take to long for me to gather everthing up ,money willing, and slap it in my car. But after i do that i'm deffinitly getting a tune and a converter. Tell me guys, what gear do i need to run with this car with my 4r70w? a 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10?

I'm using 3.55's in mine. Any more than that and traction becomes too much of an issue for my tire budget to handle. I figure, 280tq now, probably 350 or better post install... definitely not gunna be able to afford 3.73. Saleen S330 had 3.73's and zero traction outside of 4th gear with 366tq.

In any case I think the smart money will be on a good size air:air intercooler. You've got enough heat and metal under the hood as it is with an oversized motor and a big old blower, may as well not add to the density issue. ATI makes really nice coolers. You'll need a kit of boost pipe bends and lengths to get it installed and the battery will probably need to be relocated.

I just picked up a set of superior axles (finish off the upgrades to the back end), white face guages(cheap... why not) and billet fuel rails. I need to find a set of 32lb injectors on the cheap and then I'll have the intake setup completed. The days are zooming by and I'm not making the progress I'd hoped but soon... sooon. Famous last words.

Has anyone looked into using the T-56 6 speed viper transmission with the 5.4? Will it even bolt up?

bolts right up.. need a few other parts for the conversion though. It's not hard.

Just needs to have a bellhousing adaptor (or bellhousing, can't remember if the T56 is integrated or not), the correct clutch disc, rear yoke, and shorter driveshaft.

I know my car has the stock 3.27 or 3.23 something, should i stick with it? or what? so with my auto traction wouldn't happen with 3.73? on the street i woujld use regular street tires but at the track i would use M/T ET Streets.

You are talking about 400+ ft-lbs coming out of the engine at rpms below 3,500-4,000 rpm w/ a torque curve that's almost flat. Combine that w/ a big rear gear and street tires and you will not hook up. You should stick w/ nothing more than a 3.90:1 rear gear. The torque alone will make up for the lack of gearing.

if you're going to use ET's then get as beefy a rear end as you can. I'd go up to 31 spline and aftermarket diff... regardless of the gear with that tire. You should also have a driveshaft safety loop installed. 3.27 is fine if a little long. I like 3.55's better on my 4.6 and with the 5.4 they should be more than sufficient. 3.73's on an auto would be a fuggin h00t. Beef up your tranny or you'll frag something. 3650's are teetering on the edge with a 5.4... 4r70w needs some help if you're going to race it.

ohh.... thought you meant a viper spec (like the gearing). a pullout from a viper, I seem to recall that's a bellhousing and tailshaft housing away from working. Of course there are crossmember issues and you have to deal with the clutch. Viper clutches are hydraulic. I don't know how much of a conversion issue it is outside the bellhousing and clutch fork.

yea i think ill stick with the 3.73's but i heard that the 4r70w can take 350 hp and 450 lb. so, i was going to do that and a shift kit and converter. should be nice. :O

I don't know if they'll plug into my harness... If they will (even with a little tinkering) let's work a deal.

VOID... The rating is more for where you can expect breakage. Accelerated wear and subsequent breakage is another story. I recall reading in another thread on here about some people getting broken input shafts on the autos. I'd leave the converter alone or just get a stronger built one with the same stall RPM... your peak torque will start coming on right about where the stocker stalls so it's not a bad one from that stand point. I generally refuse to deal with autos so I'd recommend you tap one of the guys here that knows their auto-stuff.

well guys, remember back a few months back i had decided to sell all my 5.4 2V stuff. well i didnt sell anything, so i guess i am back in the game. i might take the block to the machine shop this week. i am still undecided as to get a set of aftermarket heads or just put my hand ported PI heads that are shaved .03 (which currently house Comps XE268's), or hand port my factory PI heads and install the Comp 270's i have. everything will be forged, to yield about 9.1CR, and about 12-14#'s of boost. i found a shop that could fab my Mac L/T headers to the 5.4.

Got a link? I didn't see them on their site. <prepares to call MMR>

In any case... those seem like a decent option. LMK what you're looking to get out of them and what kind of use they've seen.
