Get avast for antivirus, it's free and you can get it at avast.com. For spyware go to bestbuy and buy Spysweeper. It's $40 I believe.

Just so you know, spyware is a much bigger threat than viruses these days since the creators actually benefit from it.

As much as I like to look at naken women, I avoid these sites like the plague. They f up your computer terribly. When I get links from some of my bastard friends, I don't even click on them anymore.
Go to wwww.hitmanpro.com. It will take hours, but will clean everything.

First things first... reboot your computer then I would goto this website and do a full scan.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Youll also want to download adaware and search and destroy and do full scans as well.

If your system is that bad, try to go back to a RESTORE point where it was running OK...like a few months back. If it is that bad, might be time for a Factory Restore or wipe the hard drive and start over.

I use AVG for a antivirus...its free.

I use SpySweeper for SPAM and pop ups...awesome product.

I need to find a FREE Anti-virus for Windows Vista. My new laptop came with a free upgrade and I haven't looked to find a free one. I won't upgrade until I find one.

Ad-Aware for scanning little annoying files. Works very well.

Trend Micro internet security. $55 at BestBuy, but you can get it for $20 all over EBay. Best Anti-Virus out there imo.

I got a damm bug on my home puter that is preventing me from opening MSCONFIG. I will try hitman and see what it does.

Trendmicro Internet Security 2007 for the win!

I used Spysweeper for about 2 years, it does a great job and removing stuff.. but sometimes it can use a little too much resources to run. I love the Trendmicro software though.. and the IS comes with their anti-spyware program.

.

That is actually the easiest thing to do and usually gets the best results. I've used it a few times. Just go back to the day before you had problems and presto. Plus I use adaware and spybot too. Plus my new "McAfee Security Center" Antivirus does a great job scanning those questionable sites and lets you know what to expect. If it is really bad for making changes to your computer it will protect you. Plus I do a cookie clean up everyday..

You were the one that showed me. After 100% loving IS, i've spread it to many friends! $20 on Ebay gets you the full version.
