I've been shopping around for a HDTV for my Xbox 360.. I dont have HD cable I would just be using it to mainly play my 360 in hi-def, I came across this Panasonic one.. let me know what you guys think about it.. I sit about 8 feet away from my TV and it will be mounted on the wall, Also let me know if I should go LCD or Plasma because ill be mainly playing video games on it..

Panasonic makes great plasma tv's, but the one you linked to is actually an EDTV and not an HDTV, although newegg's website claims it can do 1080i. If you have the extra bucks, go with the TH42PX60U which can do true high-def (although not 1080p).

Link comparing the TH42PD60U to the TH42PX60U

I have a TV from the 70's

thing is surrounded by oak... sits right on the floor... weighs probably like 300 lbs...

it has the old antenna input...

I like that TV...

thanks for the great advice guys its helped me out a lot, but im probably going to buy the TH-42PX60U model, not the TH-42PD60U the one with HDTV its $1300 on newegg.com its $100 difference between versions.. my final question is I want to be able to mount it on my wall are all plasmas able to mount to walls? espcially the one I plan on purchasing.. and ive looked at mounts but none of them list anything about what brands they will work on or w/e..

Most mounts are universal and will fit all popular brands of plasma tv's. Usually they will say what size they are capable of holding.

Im looking for one that can tilt side to side and back and forth, I was looking at ones with arms so you can like turn it and point it from one side of the room to another but it was only for LCD displays for some reason..

they have some articulating ones for 250 or so...

some of the LCD ones may work, but honestly if yer looking at an articulating wall mount you really dont wanna go cheap when yer looking at a plasma that costs well over a thousand dollars.

ya, I might just get a regular one.. 250-500 is alot for a wallmount, I just want to be able to turn the tv so if im on my computer I can turn the tv towards me..

Saw this thread late but you made the right choice. Dont spend alot of money now on a 1080p as the major manufacturers are going to be cranking out alot of tvs this time next year when there plants are 100% operational so the 42 1080p you buy today you can get a 52 next year.

The native resolution of the xbox 360 is 720p so unless you have PS3(they dont even have a good game to play with 1080p) whats the point. The only next gen game out today from the top 3 consoles is Gears of war and using the Component cables it looks amazing. I bought a Samsung 42" and sometime in the next 2 years I ll purchase the mother of all screens.

Fear looks good but GOW is up to date on the latest effects compared to Fear which is a PCand has been out for a while. The only games Im getting now is GOW,fear and Double AGent for my wife, she loves Sam. All the other games that have come out Ill wait till they are in the used and get them for half. If you have played Fear on the PC dont get the 360 ver as its the same.
