Default Is this even possible?

First of all, hey, I'm new.

My friend has a 2001 V6 Stang auto with a posi 4.10 rear, mac dual exhaust, and bassani x pipe. he tells me he's beat some GTs out on the street, and even hung with an 05 GT...which i find to be difficult to believe. He also talks about destroying Integras all the time, but that's more believable.

What i'm really asking i guess is it possible to beat GTs with simple mods like that to a V6 auto? I'm hopefully getting a stang soon, and after hanging around his car, it seems like a V6 ain't so bad as long as you do what he's done.

What do you mean by beating? And what year GT is he talking about? Some 96-98's can't break 15's. Then there is the issue of was it really a race, was it fair? My car is pretty slow acclerating from 5th gear at 50 mph.

For the most part, I never believe guys who like to talk alot about beating other cars on the street. Guys with fast cars, don't need to talk about it.

I had a kid trying to race me in a saturn once. After killing him, he passed me (I let him) and I am sure he proceeded to tell all his friends he beat a GT.

Seriously, what the hell is the difference between a 15.6 second V-6 and a 14.8 second GT from a rolling start. The 6er gets in the right gear and in the right part of the power band, and he will take that GT at least for a bit.

I have seen plenty of stangs beat F bodies in the 1/4, but the F body had much higher trap speeds. Give him another 1/16th mile, and the chicken-hawk wins. So in a street race, the F body might walk all over the stang if they were to race from 50 mph or something like that.
