I think the idea of American muscle comes more from guys getting an okay V8 and making it a killer then purchasing it. American's like to pride themselves on success from hard work, being "able" to make something of themselves... I think the same could be applied to the muscle cars. I went with the aftermarket guy.

It was a toss up for me between Iacocca and Shelby. While Iacocca brought the Mustang to the showfloor, it was Shelby, with the GT350 that gave the Mustang the performance image that still lives on today.

I have to go with Delorean. I'm not going into details, but the Mustang was not considered a muscle car. Obviously you have the Hi-Po, Shelby's, Boss, etc. but the GTO really did start it all. Nowadays I guess I would consider a Mustang a muscle car since its one of the last cars that still pretty much fits the bill. I'd definitely have to put Shelby in close second.
