Why am I soo SLOWWW... :(
Well...Im new to this V8 community...I use to have a SRT-4 before it got stolen...soo I found a good deal on this 98' GT...bone stock w/87,000 for $3600 ... very good condition inside and out...
Well anywayz...i hang out with a lot of srt-4 owners and well, lets just say i ran the slowest one...and he pulled 4+ cars on me from a 30mph roll
I got no idea what the car has, the Speedometer reads 10mph above what it should (compared with a friend) and i dont think 6,000 rpms is redline anymore since it doesnt pull hardly anything past 5,500 <--- dont know if thats normal for V8s
Anywho...any advice on what to get and what to start off with...I have already installed Long Tube Headers, Mac Catless H-Pipe and a flowmaster 40 series cat back exhaust....I have a CAI, Intake Spacer and Short Throw coming in the mail. What else can be good to add. I am wanting to get rid of that ugly 4X4 stance it has. Any suggestions???

shouldnt have bought a non-pi head mustang? lol that intake spacer is useless, or so I am told. You can always get new heads and grab yourself some more power. Nitrous is always an option for around 500... just depends on what you think of being on the bottle.
EDIT: Gears - get 4.10 gears lol

Yeah, people list it as their fav mod... I just cant bring myself to do it... given so much of my driving is highway it would hit me where it counts, the wallet ='(

when we mention PI heads we are just talking about the power improved heads they put on the 99+, gave it a good amount of power over the old ones. While the heads are still considered a point of restriction, it is not nearly as bad as it was on the 96-98... Im not sure how much it would cost to grab a set of newer heads, used or otherwise...

96-98 GT's had "non-pi heads+intake" while the 99-04 GT's had "pi-heads" ford improved the heads because well . . . they flowed like dogshit (this is what your experiencing) the good side to this all is that if you swap the heads out (getting heads and intake from a 99-04) then you'll be faster then a 99-04 GT, because not only do the heads flow better but on your car, they will bump up the compression a little bit.
hope that helps. goodluck

my 03gt holds its own against the srt4's that prowl my neighborhood so with a PI head and intake swap you should have no trouble.
You want to really take it to em... get a 00+ 5.4L and swap that in. They pretty much bolt in and you'll own them.

is that possible???
well tanx for the advice and tips guys...really appreciate it...and well soo far i learned this
*I bought a slow car
*I need some heads
*1 out of 500 mustangs can hang with an srt
Would it be better to get GT40 heads or is the gain over the PI heads minimal from those?

ya'll sure???? ive ran modded 98gts before when i had my srt before and well...they didnt do soo good either...
will it run mid 12s with just the PI swap??? if it doesnt...well i have no chanse with my modded srt friends

check out modualrdepot.com or modularpowerhouse.com forums you can get a set of PI heads and cams for $3-400 (but you still ahve to get the intake and kit which should be around another $2-250) but it will all be well worth it. With just that you are looking at 35-40 RWHP increase.
And on the gears, go with 3.73 that's what I have and drive daily at 90+ on the interstate and still get 20-22 MPG.
