I've never been into the Chevy vs Ford thing cause I just figured the more American car companies the better....so I have no beef with Chevy....maybe if they merge Chevy will talk some sense into Ford about using these wimpy 4.6 engines!

Think about this:
Ford and GM are having a lot of money problems right now, partially because of all there expenses; I.E. all the healthcare and benefits they've had to pay for their employees now and are still paying for those who've retired. That's a lot of employees.
Toyota/Honda dont have near as large as healthcare/benfits factor they have to worry about for they are very new and small compared to the years of Ford/GM.
In 20 years, Toyota/Honda will have the EXACT same problem as Toyota/Honda are now if they don't learn anything.
It is popular belief that Honda/Toyota make a better car, but let's face it Ford and GM have gotten stuff together and it's common to see any new make/model be able to hold up to 200K miles.

No one is arguing over longevity of the cars, no question GM and Ford cars if properly taken care of will last 150K miles just like a civic.
I have owned cars from pretty much every manufacturer (Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ponitac, Honda, Nissan, Toyota (Lexus), and Mazda) I can tell you in 100% of the cases of the cars I have owned the Honda and Toyota where definatly better built as far as fit and finish and noise levels. My 04 Mustang rattled within 25K miles whereas my 00 Civic, 02, Nissan Sentra, and 98 Lexus never had a sinlge rattle at mileages ranging from 50-75K.
That being said an LS1 mustang would be sweet from the factory.
