Most people have never heard a Roush including myself. At least, not that I can remember.

I am a big fan of SLP. I was driving around this eveing behiond my wife. She was in my stang. I could not believe how great the car sounded.

The SLP and Flowmaster are different styles. SLP has resonators, and is just plain LOUD and mean sounding...loudest out there. Flowmasters are chambered and gives a more "throaty", musclecar sound. In either case, putting on an offroad midpipe is what really turns the volume up. With a stock or catted pipe, it won't necessarily get much louder, but the sound will change.

Mike, not to start an argument, but just to make a point that exhaust is so subjective. For example, I think SLP sounds more classic muscle car. I would never link flows to muscle car sound.

Also, slp now makes a chambered exhaust too, but never heard one.

There are many thigs to keep in mind with an exhaust system when making a decision. Sound is only one factor. Quality, ease of installation, and ability to modify later just to name a few.

One thing that SLP does better than any other option is how inter-changeable the systems are. You can buy an SLP catback and you have two other muffler/resonator choices that you can swap out later. It talkes merely a few minutes to make the swap. If you find that the loudmouth is just too loud for the wife and a daily driver, you can always slip on their SLP "mufflers" and put the resonators back on for the track or car shows.

They also make cool race pipes for $60 to delete the cats. The options are endless.

If you are on a budget, want a quality exhaust system, and want your car to sound like it might be making 400+ hp, there is no better option than the loudmouth catback. For a mere $350 you can change the attitude of your car. No catback on the market will make more of a difference.

BUT, if you insist on o/r X pipe down the road, the SLP Loudmouth may not be the best choice.

I had the loudmouth by itself for about 4 months and then added the SLP catted X pipe. I also have a vert. My setup is loud. The catback by itself is very suitable for a DD. But add the catted X pipe, and the personality really changes. My car sounds less refined, and more pissed-off. I will mostly likely get the SLP mufflers this summer, to tone it down a bit, but dam, I love it soo much the way it is now.

I drove behind my wife yesterday. I rarely do this. She was in the stang. The car sounds like it has headers and a cam with the exhaust setup. When at idle, it's like listening to a snoring lion. It's hard to explain, but it just sounds like "Man, I bet that thing is loud when you rev it".

BTW, I think magnaflow is a great choice too. Heck, there are some really great options out there.

Screw the sound clips. If you want to make the best choice for you, go to shows and listen to other peoples cars first-hand. Ask them what they have and go from there.

Mt is right its all personal choice however when it comes to build quality and ease of install I think slp is 1st on the list. Best thing to do is go to a car show or club meetings and talk to owners and listen to exhausts live. I have Flows on with a bassani catted xpipe and it sounds awesome but I want louder so I will be selling my catback and getting slps. My stang it is a weekend car so I dont have to put up with a loud exhaust on a daily basis.

I hate you! I'm leaving and joining another site:icon_spid

J/K...I think its just a matter of opinion. They both actually sound like an old muscle car. The SLP Loudmouth sounds like glasspacks, where the flows sound like kind of "burbly" and more "throaty" IMO. Just my $.02

GTMustang04, like we both said...for loudness, the mid pipe makes all the difference, and the SLP Loudmouth is the loudest, alot of times TOO loud for some people's tastes. It also has the best fit/finish, changability, and ease of installation. IIRC Blake, arent the Loudmouth cat backs Stainless as well? Or maybe its just the tips/ mufflers.

Exhaust sound questions always open up a can of worms, as everyone likes a different sound and no one particular system really give any more power than a competitor's. Follow Blake's advice and go to a mustang race or show and listen to them in person.

That's a good point Mike. I never thought of it that way, but you are right. SLP=glasspacks.

And yes, SLP is all stainless.

I've had my SLP's for about a month and i LOVE the setup. Like MT was saying..the options for SLP is great. And the sound...well the sound is GREAT. I really like mine to be loud so i'm going to be getting an o/r x this summer. I'll have to see what it sounds like before i get headers though. hahahahah
