When you guys have to downshift or start in first do u do anythjing weird like hit to the side in neutral a certain amount of times or anything like that?

If im at a red light and im starting in first i have to go to second and then first in order for me to go or its makes me crazy for some reason.

Just wondering if any of you guys do the same thing when you drive.

 

You can do that. It's the same thing as when you're riding a motorcycle sometimes you see guys let in and out on the clutch and rock the bike, that happens when they don't downshift into first before they stop. Your car doesn't like to downshift gears if your wheels aren't moving, and since you can't really rock your car you can "wiggle" the stick in neutral and you should be able to click into 1st. I find it easier to just downshift into 1st when I'm riding the bike instead of lookin' like a retard trying to move my bike forward and bake while having one foot up on the shifter. Same concept for a car.

 

I hit the drivers side gearbox in neutral 3 times all the time. Its a safecheck to make sure im in neutral. if im moving its a side to side. drivers first, passenger, than back to where it goes.

 

I do the neutral thing all the time.

 

have to say i do the same thing...even if i'm in first at a stop light, when it turns green....i have to go to netural then back to first...it's a habit

when I drive... and I am slowing down... I leave it in gear, and when the RPMs drop enough, I push the clutchin, go down a gear and release the clutch...

I go through all the gears til I get to first and I leave it there...

I never really 2nd guess where the shifter is... I guess I just know where it is and I don't worry bout it...

But I do the same this Matt does before I start to double check that it ain't in gear... lol

 

I downshift to 2nd gear and that's the last gear then nuetral. When I'm ready to go I goto 1st gear unless I'm rolling a bit then sometimes I'll stay in 2nd gear.. And if i do a burnout once in a while I will do it from 2nd gear. It will lay black marks for a long time.. LOL.

 

i do the same thing that greg does....wait till an rpm too low for that specific gear...but i then turn into rebelyell and stop downshifting in second....

and i hit the side of the gear box to make sure im in nutural...thats it

 

i just slow down and downshift through each gear usually.. or if im stopping quickly i just hold in the clutch, but i still go through every gear even if i dont let the clutch out

 

+1, get the nice "pop" sound while idling down through the gears, and saves brakes at the same time!!!

 

yeah because youd much rather put wear and tear on your tranny instead.

 

umm, no I'm not talking about redlining the damn thing. When I let the clutch out it is never over 3k rpm to slow it down.

When I downshift I don't really do anything "weird". When I'm stopped though, say at a redlight, 99% of the time, I put it in nuetral. What I've noticed I tend to do is one of two things; Either I do the side-to-side shimmy-shake with the shifter, although it's not an actual specific number each time, or I'll push the clutch in, shift to first, then back out to neutral, release the clutch, then repeat this process until I'm actually able to go. My wife has noticed me doing too, and she thinks it's just part of my ADD problem.

When i come to a stop i always just push in the clutch ride it to the stop then put it into first and let off the clutch when the light turns green. My truck always lets me get into first.
