take toy match box car...
put car on treadmill... and hold your finger on the roof...
now push the car foward...
it will move...
the plane is the car
the treadmill is... well the treadmill

LOL..... No, your finger is the engine providing power to the wheels.
Weather or not the wheels spin have NOTHING TO DO with this situation.
The engines pull the AIRCRAFT, they do not move the wheels to get forward movement.
The engines when on, pulling the aircraft pull the air, they do not pull the ground.

HERE IS THE ANSWER.
This is a trick question, it tricks you into looking at the situation in the wrong way.
First off, Prop or Jep planes do NOT use movement created by the wheels to gain speed.
Instead they gain speed by pulling the AIR AHEAD of them and BLOWING it BEHIND them.
That said, it does not matter if the trreadmill is moving fast or standing still, it does create AIR MOVEMENT.
The plane gets its movement by pulling the AIR which is still, NOT by pulling itself along the ground with motorized wheels.
So, even if the treadmill is moving 200mph, the plane will still suck air ahead and spit it out behind to gain speed, once it has enough speed it WILL take off.
Now, for ****s and grins, lets put a WIND MACHINE at the end of the runway blowing at the plane. Well, once the wind machine puts enough force out with the wind it creates lift, in which case the plane will STILL take off but it will be hovering.
So, seeing as how the plane does NOT use motors to power the wheels to pull it across the runway, as a car would, that nulls out the runway in its entirety.
If this was actually done? Well, i'd hate to think ot the lodgistics of this but the plane better take off fast or it will simply be dumped off the rear of the runway.

It's frightening to see how many of you don't know the concept of thrust.

OMG GUYS I HAVE AN IDEA.
Say you have the same plane... and It wants to take of on this supercool treadmill of never ending runway.
But, intead he taxi's on the treadmill the WRONG WAY? now he is pointing in the DIRECTION of the movement. He sits still on the ground... he starts to accelerate but the treadmill matches his movement! the plane gets up to 100 knots and he takes off... but... the treadmill matched his 100 knots and the wheels were standing perfectly still the whole time... he launched at 100 knots and only 100 knots, not 200.
Does that help?

well im not going to lie the first couple pages i was dead set on it wont fly, cuz the info was all jacked up on the question. but after a few pages i was 50-50 and i was just argueing one 50% side. i have a bunch of ideas that you guys havent mentioned that will make you think it will fly. but i do know that their are only 8 planets. but there might be 9 again. cuz their thinking of makeing the earths moon a planet, which would be gay

eh im actully happy this tread was started it made the time at work go by faster.
and in all actuality we REALLY will not know it could be true or it couldn't and untill some crazy mothaFer actually spends the money and builds the worlds biggest treadmill and gets in to a jet to do this. Non of us will not honestly know.
