My opinion.....

First off Alcohol and ciggarettes kill hundreds of thousands if not millions of people every year....from alcoholism, drinking & drinking and driving, lung cancer....ect....why are they legal?

Yes, someone could get high and drive and that could lead to potential deaths, but just from the aspect of smoking marijuana.....people don't die from smoking too much pot, it just doesn't happen. They don't die from cancer, they don't die from their liver giving out. So from just a health perspective marijuana is better for you than alcohol or ciggarettes....in my opinion.

Here in Cali Marijuana is legal for medicinal purposes. Prop 215 was passed by the voters of California, however it conflicts with federal law, which says marijuana is illegal regardless if your sick or not. The way Prop 215 works is people who have cancer or other types of diseases can get a recommendation from a doctor (not a prescription) to possess and smoke marijuana. What we saw happened in the County I work for is medical marijuana clubs pop up where patients could go get the marijuana. In response to that we developed local ordinances with the Sheriff's department to oversee medical marijuana clubs so they weren't just using them as a front for selling pot to anyone. Also, just this year the State has created medical marijuana cards that will be issued to people who have a doctors recommendation. This card will be recognized by law enforcement all over the state, which will help with a lot of the confusion.

Before we passed the local ordinance regulating the marijuana clubs my boss sent me on a tour of 3 of them! ha ha ha....I don't smoke pot, I did in high school a few times, but that was 10 years ago....anyway, these clubs blew my mind man. You could get pot peanut butter, cookies, soda, candy bars and just about every single kind of high quality west coast pot you could think of. It was like going to a fast food joint and looking at the menu! It was crazy.

Anyway, my point is that in my opinion marijuana should be legal.....regulate it and tax it like acohol!

As long as you are not a weedhead, its not bad. But when you got to smoke breakfast, lunch , dinnner and bedtime you have a serious problem.

i think the only reason its not legalized is because the government cant put a tax on it.

ummmm....well, if it were legal it would be controlled by laws that probably would take things like that into consideration.

Do you hang out with people that drink or smoke cigs?

And Jared.....why wouldn't the goverment be able to tax it....of course they can tax it......The feds can tax anything they freaking want. It would just take a lot of work to set up a system where you could catch the tax revenue.

All the dope smokers I know are not very high achievers. Not that I am much of an achiever, but if I still smoked it, I'd be sitting around with those guys, still smoking cigarettes too, drinking quite a bit, and doing other things that aren't real good for a person after 30 years of doing them. I'm fifty-something now and I regret every bad thing I did to my body.

just because somone doesn't "sucseed" according to societies standards doesnt mean they arent happy. alot of heavy marijuana smokers i know, think this way. just because theyre not some rich doctor, doesnt mean theyre not happy. infact, theyre probably happier, because they arent caught up in their job, spending 0 time with their family. im not saying IM gonna be workin at mooby's for the rest of my life, just that, for some people it works, their happy, so who cares?

I know plenty of very successful people who use it recreationally, just like many of us use alcohol.....it's just like everything else....if you abuse it there will be problems.

Do we still call marijuana "Dope"??? I always that dope was the hard stuff
