cold air intake

One that actually works.............just kidding.
I based my decision on looks and performance and went with Steeda, but they are a bit pricey. You may want to avoid a style that bends through the firewall due to potential problems with the MAF, though you will see many of these on high powered cars. I decided to go with a metal intake pipe as I was planning for nitrous...some are plastic.
I have heard good things about Denscharger and the K&N unit (which is essentially a Steeda from what I understand). Keep in mind that your car currently has a CAI as it sucks the air from the fenderwall. It is really a wonderful design as it brings in this air w/o having a bend, it's just restrictive.
After-Market CAI's work because they are less restictive and lean-up the a/f a tad. Expect anywhere from 0 - 10 hp on an n/a car, and as much as 25 on a blown snake.

Yes, just like he said, your money may be spent better elsewhere. Dont spend the money on a cold air intake, right now at least, go with some new rear end gears. At least do 3.73's, or go for some 4.10's. Im finally decided on 3.73's just because they are better for a daily driven, non raced ever, car. You will be much happier with the investment of gears.

i have the bbk in the fender unit on a 02 gt 5 speed. it works great. i think that it is a great unit for intake temps. at the track in the staging lanes my tubes seems to be the coldest... which means more hp right? right. i have friends that have the steeda, the mac, the k&N, and the bbks, the bbk always seems to be colder one of the bunch. it took of about a tenth maybe a little more

Thing is I have never seen a back to back dyno that showed that removing the silencer did anything. Sure it's a smaller hole to suck air through, BUT it draws all the cooler air from outside the car. Perhaps there is a trade off.
