Rockingham...HERE I COME!!
June 18th, I will be in my first Road Course event.
I will be in the HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) taking place at the new road course at the legendary NASCAR oval.
They accepted my previous racing experience and they are allowing me to move into the HPDE 3 class. This means I can get my competition license in like 6 months instead of almost a year or more.
I will be driving the '04 GT, not the new '88 which is still under construction.

yeah find your local mustang club or contact the mca (mustang club of america). the palm beach mustang club has open track events all the time. i just sign up, pay the money and drive up to wherever it is to participate. a lot of great guys and every one is there to help you learn. you can pay to have an instructor with you which is definitely a great idea if you're a beginner. i swear you wont want to sell your car anymore once you do it a couple times... you'll want bigger brakes, better handling suspension and more time to go to events. you dont need a blower to get good times on that kind of course, its more about driver skill.
and its so much fun!
edit: p.s. congradulations mike! have fun!

Thanks guys, I can't wait. Matt, you can do what floppy suggests OR, you can start doing HPDE events. They are around $300 a clip, but they look like a blast. I will let you know when I get back how I liked it. I will probably be all nervous and what not cause it is the Blue car and not the white one. They would start you out in HPDE 1 and put an instructor with you in your car.

If I wasn't leaving so early, or if it was a two day deal, I would ask if you want to come with me.
I have 3 more HPDE events left to do this year.
