cutting plywood?
hey, any of you guys that have cut ply wood before...what did you use to do it? with the most ease. I tried a hack saw..didn't work too well...then again the blade is designed for metal...so I'll probably go get wood cutting blades tommorrow...untill then..any of you guys have some good ply wood cutting technique/tool?

Circular saw with a ripping blade will make quick work of it...don't need a table, just something to prop the wood on. Hell, I've used the gap between my garage and driveway to cut without catching the blade on anything...ghetto, but it works...

what are you cutting? the tools depend on what the goal is. yer yer looking to make some straight cuts i'd go with a skill saw. bandsaw might work, but is difficult with large pieces of wood.
honestly, in my view, nothing beats an olf style hand saw.
hacksaws can be good, or they can be veri difficult.
what do you need to cut>? how big is the wood? curves? straight lines? sup g

Straight Cut:
If this is just a one time, one cut thing, go to dollar general and buy one of their handsaws. If this is for some kind of project that you're going to need to make a lot of straight cuts, do yourself a favor and go buy a basic circular saw.
Not straight cuts:
Again, if this is a one cut/one time deal, you could probably get away with that hacksaw with a coarse wood blade. If you're going to need to be able to cut wood all day, do yourself a favor and get a jigsaw.

If you want your straightest cut you can use a table saw if your ripping the board, but with plywood you should use a radial arm saw or a midar saw. A band saw is the last one i would use. It takes alot of practice to cut a stright line with the band saw.

A circular saw with a blade made for OSB/Plywood works like a champ for straight lines. A jigsaw with a fine tooth blade is good for curves and tight spots. Coarse blades will cut faster, but they will splinter the material more and not give you a nice finished look along your cut lines.
