Mattj, you couldnt have said it better.

Badfish, congrats on the cobra, but i really really think this is a very bad idea. The GT is a Toy, the Cobra is a whole other game dude. Be careful in it, those bad boys can break loose like nobody's business, and you already have the reputation of MT#1'sBumperSmasher

Check the carpet under the gas pedal too, i dont know if you heard or not, but the carpet has had a reputation to holding the gas down and causing you to lose control.

Dude, just remember. yer what. 17? 18?. You have another 70 years left of life (if yer careful with the cobra). If you buy this cobra you just set yourself a VERY high benchmark. Unless you get out there and bust your *** and get a VERY good job that pays VERY well, this might just be the NICEST car you ever have. You are supposed to get that when you retire, not graduate. You will pretty much spoil the fun of every car you have in the future.

Anyone wanna start a pool on either:
A) How long untill badfish loses his licence
or
B) How long untill this beautiful cobra is totaled?

Good luck jon.
..eh, I don't wanna get old anyways, LOL

GTO's are sweet, if you do make sure you get the LS2 6.0l, that would be real nice, you could probably find one cheaper than a cobra

I checked it out, i'd probably be forced to get the ls1. because an ls2 with like 30k miles on is only like 23.....but it is IMPOSSIBLE to find them with thaty many miles on em...i looked at like 12 GTO's, 04 and 05....the highest milage out of all em em was 12k..and they wanted 28 for it (ls1)

I see, either way you have an LS1 or better, a nice looking car with a beautiful interior ( the best GM makes IMO) and some nice power, only downside is its a very heavy car, probably doesnt handle as good as a GT

Congrats man....You are getting a pretty damn good deal man. I paid more for my Mach with about the same mileage. I have NEVER seen an 03/04 Cobra under $26-27K where I live. I just saw an 01 cobra with 25,000 miles on craigslist for more than your paying. Damn california is a rip off!

Congrats man!

To tell you the truth, id rather see him in a GM product than a ford because when he smashes it up, their (GM) insurance sees another reckless driver instead of us (ford).

Yeah, IMO they look OK on the out side, but the power, and interior are awesome.

Job wise what you need to do is save like about a grand and buy a 4-banger beater car and deliver pizzas. Thats what I do and I take home about 250-300bux a week only working 4 days 6 hours a day. I've only been working there for about a month and so far I have so much money do whatever with. Hopefully by the end of summer, hello supercharger:clap:

nobody is going to buy a 2001 GT with 40-45k miles for 15000. Especially if he trades it in.

Yeah, I'd be lucky to get 15 grand on mine. I think if I sold it privately, I could get 15 bc of my mods but dealerships dont care at all.

I don't know if that's more of a "**** this kid, he doesn't know his ****, but I'll let him learn the hard way" or if it's a genuine statement, either way, thanks

I meant it in a good way. I have seen many people go into debt which they can not pay back and it ruins their happiness. I dont understand why everyone thinks once you get married your incomes goes down this is not true if anything it should go up as you have two incomes to pay off all the bills.

When I was looking at trading my car in for a mach 1 (1 week before i blew my motor:censored: ) The dealership offered me 9,800 for a 2000 GT automatic with 61,000 miles on the clock, so i think jon should at least get about 12- 12500k witch would be a good trade, and then he can sell his parts, I.E. exhaust, bumpers, shifter etc

First congrats on the purchase; you will really love the car. I am assuming you all have checked the insurance increase this will have on your policy? That price seems really low for a cobra with only 20k on the clock. Here in ATL that car would sell for 26k if not higher. KBB retail price is almost 28k as the prices on the 03-04 cobras have picked up quite a bit in the last 6 months. Have you run a car fax on it? I sure would when buying a car like this and I would also have a reputable mechanic check it ok to make sure there are no leaks and everything is in working order. The last thing you want to do is buy this car and it be a lemon.
