Congrats Jon, its going to be awesome.

Now I have to put on my party pooping taste of reality suit:
FIRST OF ALL. MAKE SURE YOU WILL HAVE ENOUGH TO PAY FOR THIS CAR THE WHOLE TERM OF THE LEASE.

What I mean is, dont count on always having two jobs, ESPECIALLY going into college, because I have to tell you, if it comes to driving a cobra or getting a good education and not losing my scholarship, Im going with the schooling. Dont kill yourself trying to pay for the car, its not worth it.

Second, make sure you part your whole car out and sell the parts. That was almost 1500 bucks for me, so its worth the time it takes.

Finally,
Enjoy that 390 hp sob.

Congrats but dont get it if you really cant afford it. Whats the use of thaving a Cobra when you cant afford to put gas in it. You will be working the rest of your life in the future so make sure you have enough cash to go out and enjoy yourself now.

The thing is FLAWLESS...and stock (except for bumper letter inserts) The only 2 things that have to happen in order for me to get it, is I can't fail math...and it has to still be there in two weeks. (It's been sitting there since december) Damn, I'm exited...I probably won't be able to affored mods for a WHILE though..
Just read your first post. I have a different outlook on life, I will never get two jobs to buy or have something unless its food on the table for my family. If I want to make more money I will get a job that pays more but not work more hours as I dont want to take time away time from my family. If you have 2 jobs then you are living beyond your means or you are seriously underated in your first job so go out and get another.

You cant even drive your GT without putting it in a ditch like an idiot. what are you going to do with another 130hp? Also buying a 22,000 dollar car while you are still in highschool is a really stupid idea because I guarentee youll come to a point where you cant afford it. Youll be working ALL your hours just to afford your car with little to no extra money for anything else.

I have to agree, Matt does make a good point. There is more to life than a car, especially at your age Jon. I think you are doing great with what you have.

Eh, owning a cobra isnt about beating everything...its a cobra...it all works together. The brakes, supercharger, suspension, the seats, the body....its just...something you cant get with a GT. Thats why Im doing it anyway...

Venom, before you make assumptions, you have to understand the situation. My second job will be paying as much as a full time (low wage) job, but I'll only be working about two hours a week. So really, it's not that much more work, and hardly living beyond my means

and Matt/Foncarelli...don't worry if it ever comes to a point where I can't affored it, and I'm working all the time, I'll sell it...simple as that...but I still have a year of highschool left, and I can MORE than affored it...so why not?

I didn't make this thread so you guys can give me advice on what to do with my money...I made it to share my excitement

As long as you got all bases covered, then i am happy for ya. I rather have someone giving me constructive advice along with the good comments. There might be something you didnt think about. Matt gave his opinion and i think you are lucky people would be looking out for your best interest.

i'm all with you jon. I bought my GT back in highschool and paid 20 g's for it. If you can do it...go for it. Yeah life's not all about the cars but hell, you only live once so why the heck not?!?!? If you die tomarrow you can at least say you had the time of your life doing what your doing. i personally think it's better to make purchaces like this before you have the responsibility of a family and all that other stuff.........that's why i buy any and everything i want now. Get your toys out of the way now so that you don't have a wife telling you that you can't get it!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats man
