Default Be nice to your servers!!!!!

Ok, well I'm a server and have been one for 2 years. Tomorrow(technically today) is mother's day and at my place, they say there is a wait from open til close(I work at a nice steakhouse about par with outback). Now, i know quite a few of you will be going to restaurants and things will be fine til around 4 or 5 but thing is, most servers are working straight through...12 hours straight. I'm getting there at 10, and dont plan on leaving til after 10. this is without a break mind you. So if you stroll into a restaurant around 5 or 6 and the server seems flustered, there's a good chance that he/she has already been on their feet nonstop for 8+ hours.

otherwise. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY(which means nothing since there are no moms on the boards)!!!!

For some reason I thought you were going to ask us not to post large files or pics on this site to be nice to the "Servers"

bahahahhaha so true. Remember...15% is they're okay. 20% is they were great! And the verbal tip doesn't pay our bills(verbal tip = "nice job!" and gives 10%)

I always tip very well if the service is good (always 20% if good service), but because a server is frustrated or tired does not give them an excuse to be a bad server. Especially as seeing how that is ya know their job.

As others have said. If your service sucks, so does your tip.

And dont sell your restauraunt short, Outback sucks. It has to be better than that.

well danny, you got a lady a nice tip...because the service from her (at the olive garden) SUCKED...we basically stared at our empty plates from 15 minutes, after the appetizer, the main course, and desert...but I considered what you said...and i gave her 15%, when I otherwise, for that serivce woulda given 10

now, I'd give a bad tip on bad service in a heartbeat if it looked like the sever didnt give effort. Today for example, they sat a table of 4 and 7 in my secytion at the same time. For about 30 min straight I was running back and forth getting things and for that 30 min(basically, from drink order til food came) the server was so-so. I got a nice tip on one table and horrible tip from the other.

oh well, I made $240all day. I'm happy (<--- we seriously need new smileys)

I can definetly understand what he is talking about...I cook in a restaurant, and on busy days like mothers day, people work long hours and are running all over the place. You have to be able to handle high stress or its really not the place for you.

I dunno if you have even seen the kind of stress I deal with @ my restaurant. I work @ mimi's cafe and I deal with a lot of parties involving old ladies on mother's day.....to say in the least it always sucks; we have long hours, lots of customers, grumpy managers, and a lot of food&set-ups to get out. Overall though I say this mother's day went alot better than last years for my restaurant. We had a nice steady flow all day and my fellow staff members worked acceptionally well. But next time you guys go to a restaurant be nice to the servers and remember we handle your food.

California....They have mimi's cafe's everywhere on the west coast and florida is the only that has it on the east coast I believe. They are stationed there because of the large tourism market in that area.
