fukk pt cruisers.. i had one and got worse gas mileage than my mustang. that and the thing fell apart around 60k miles. i had check engine lights and **** every week. piece of crap chrysler car.

Toyota Corolla. Great mileage (40mpg highway), great resale, Toyota build quality, Cheap to buy (under 16K new for lower trim levels)

Pt is a dog has no pickup even the turbo version is slow.

yea, since its faster than mustangs stock...

maybe a ... Celica...has 29mpg in city... or VW golf or jetta...both have 38mpg

gas mileage isnt everything... volkswagens have a lot of problems and are expensive to fix. toyota's are the most dependable cars on the road. scion is made by toyota, thats the main reason my girlfriend bought one.

I even thought about a TC. Nice car, nice price, good mileage. For me a Scooter is in my future.:shifty:

You are right, Matt must have had a brain fart. Hybrids rock around town but are no better on da highway.

Matt, I am in the same situation. I need a car that gets good fuel economy, I do not want anything dorky and I want to spend around 16k.

I am buying a 2003 Saab 9-3 most likely. You can buy them all day long with low miles in that price range. And, they are loaded, have 210 hp and get 30+ on the highway. They are neat cars if you are in to them.

For my money, I would not waste my time with a Scion or any of that crap. I do like the Mazdas, but you will not find one for 16k. A nice equipped new 3 runs around 18.5 and the dam used ones around here go for too much.

I would drive a 9-3 any day of the week over a Mazda, but I still like them too.
