Default What to do??!!

Question about what I should do with the rims for my car:

Ok, so my options are now to either get the 18" Chrome Fr500s and have the family pay for the rims and I pay for the tires ( about 680 bucks which would take a few months for me to make) or get the 17" Chrome Fr500s and not have to pay for tires since I have 17" tires on my car right now. I like the look of the 18s but I could have the 17s on my car in a week or so. The 18s may take a couple of months and would cost me about 680 bucks! Im thinking im just gonna the 17" I mean there isn't a big difference between 17" rims and 18" rims.. Also, the 17" Chrome Fr500s would fit onto most 17" tires right?

Suggestions please!

If you've got the patience, definately wait for the 18's. You'll be much happier.

yes, there is a huge difference. Take a look at my old car. Had 17's on it.

And then take a look at Lances car with 18's

I know it's they aren't Chrome FR500's but you can still see how much of a difference they make.

Do you have more of a side shot of your car by any chance?

I don't know if this will help much, but here's my 17" stockers and my 18" FR500's.

Your family is going to pay for them? I thought you had your own family?

Heres my take, if you dont mind paying for expensive *** tires, and are going to run the same size all around, go 18's. Personally, while it looks great, I would NEVER run offset size front and back tires on 18's, tires are too damn expensive not to rotate. Also, you have to come to terms with the fact that you can probably buy 2.5 sets of 17 in tires for what you'll pay for ONE set of 18's, just comes with the territory. BUT they do look a hell of a lot better, just some cons on both sides.

Hate to say it but that is wrong to an extent. Look at this way. Sure, you have to pay for expensive tires all the way around but when most people look at 17x10.5's they just think about Nitto's or any other drag radial on and they will be ok, they are highly mistaken. If you are comfortable getting new tires every 4-5 months at $180 a piece for the rear then fine go ahead. Let's not forget about the weather. Drag radials are terrible in the rain and don't even think about leaving the house with snow on the ground. Or you could stick a crappy tire on those 10.5's such as the Sumitomo's that cost about $105 a piece and are just straight up terrible tires and terrible looking. If you can live with extremely bad tires or only dry weather drag radials that wear quickly then sure go ahead, get the 17's.

This is where it gets nasty. If you want to feel confident while driving in some torrential downpour on your 17x10.5 rims then you are going to have to spend some BIG bucks. I had just put a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3's on my rims in the back like 3 days before my car was in the accident. It was raining that whole time and I'm talking RAINING. Those tires are great and I would never own another when it comes to rims like that unless I moved to Arizona or something. The tires are $272 a piece, it cost $572 to have both of them mounted and balanced.

Let's also not forget about the tire choices. When you bump up to the 18's your the number of tires you have to choose from sky rocket. With they 17x10.5's you basically have the Nittos, Sumitomo's and then bam!!! You are spending nearly $300 a tire for some good Yokohamas or Goodyear F1's.

Well I have already decided that I am gonna go with the same size all around. Mostly because I wouldn't be able to rotate my tires and I am not sure I want to be spending big bucks on rear tires all the time. The choice is now either 17" or 18" Like I said, I could get 17" now, or have to wait go get the 18" in about 2-3 months. The one thing that sucks is in about 2 months Im gonna be at Florida State, and Im prolly not gonna have my car with me and Id like to kinda enjoy the rims now.....lol.

My real only hope for getting 18" rims now is if someone is interested in my stock rims/tires that I could sell that would pay for most of the 4 tire price. So far no takers... Check it out here: https://mustangboards.com/classified...rims-sale.html
