Default Factory Air Silence Removal

Ok so tomorrow Im planning on doing the ultimate free mod under the hood with taking out the Air Silencer to get a little bit of kick and am wondering if this mod does anything that hurts the stang. I know its a real easy process and supposedly you are suppose to get a little better throttle response out of it. Any suggestions before I do this?? and like I asked before, will this hurt the car at all??
Thanks.

Youll get mabye 1 hp from doing that and it sounds cooler with more air being sucked in. Great free mod. all the little bits add up.

yeah the suckin sound is kinda cool, sorta a light blow off ish... but you'll feel it ALOT more when it's cooler out at night and the engine wants more air... and helps gas mileage...

Meh, it's free, it does very little....but it's free. Only downside is your filter will get dirty alot quicker.

What kind of screw is needed to take it out, because when I went to look under the hood, the hood that was supposed to be holding it in was not there!!!!
