Default A conundrum for '05 + '06 owners?

Ok, so if you were to replace or flash your cars computer chip, and Ford discovers that, then you've voided your warranty. Now, just about the only way they'd really find out, is if you take your car in for whatever reason, and because of bad luck or outright suspicion, they check it out and find it's been done.

So, what would cause suspicion? Perhaps obvious mods. Like what? How about a C.A.I.? It's fairly common knowledge that putting a C.A.I. on requires a retune. So if they open the hood, see a C.A.I., they have to assume either I'm a moron running my engine to lean, or I've had a retune done. So of course they'll check....and BAM! Warranty gone.

I think it's just an evil plot by Ford to have an easy way of spotting retuned cars so they can void the warranty on them. :shifty:

Yo I c ur in the DC area as well, I go to Sheehy Ford in Montgomery County and they've never voided anything on my car ... hell they installed my CAI while doin the regular maintainence... however, since I left for this semester the guy i knew behind the counter, Jesse, left so things might change there, but for the most part people don't do CAI and then tuners... they'll usually wait till some other big stuff before gettin hand held tuners, and remember you can always put the stock tune back in before you take it in... takes like 5 minutes if your really worried about it...

on the new 05's and 06's you usually have to tune the car when you put a cai onto it... i think only the k&n works without a tune.

i thought that was a problem awhile back, and that they fixed it... something having to do with Ford not giving the after market community the codes for the computer...

Go to Sheehy Ford or Liberty Ford in MD. Randy works over at Liberty, I got a guy Chris who works at Sheehy. Both are great guys and they will be more than happy to help ya out .

Negative. The MAF housing size changes, and the PowerPC processor in the S-197's is VERY sensitive to airflow changes like that.
