Default Ipods

okay so i'm thinking about getting an ipod. The 30gb video is the one that i am looking at. i've heard good things about ipods and i've also heard bad.

those of you that have had experience with them:
battery life, how long do they last and how much is it to replace them?

i'm not planning on getting the extended warranty with this purchase, good or bad idea? I am however getting it insured by my agent and that will cover free replacement for any incidental damage/loss/stolen ipod.

going with the 30gb because i can't see spending $150/$200 for a 1/2gb when i can spend $300 for 30gb.

Thanks!

They're great as long as you take care of it. Just remember not to treat it like your old CD player because it isn't. Do that and you'll love it and it'll last you a long time.

the battery is rechargeable, you don't replace it.

i realize they are rechargable, but i have heard of the batteries wearing out like a cell phone for instance.

mine is one of the very first ones and the battery still lasts as long now as it did then. Ive also droped it a few times and still works like new. Well worth the money if you can fill up the entire 30 gigs. Ive got enough music on mine to keep playing for over a day and its only like 10% full. I say get it.

I have the 60gb video ipod and I love mine.. had it since they first came out with no problems. I also work at Best Buy and I will tell you right now people bring ipods in ALL THE DAMN TIME. And in most cases it is operator error. The software on it can easily be corrupted but it is also easily fixed. Just download the ipod updater and restore it if you have any issues. If you treat the ipod right you won't have any problems.

I just bought the black 30gb ipod and so far it's been good. I bought it for my snowboarding trip and it didn't give me any problems. I will say though that i charged it all night and i listened to it for about an hour and the battery life was almost half empty....??????

i got a black 30gb 5g ipod. the battery life is good. i rode with my friend from GA here to VA which is about 9 hours and it only used half the battery. But when u watch videos, the battery wont last, music it will just not video due to the backlight needing to be on.

I've had my 20 gig Ipod for about a year and a half now and it is great. I use it almost everyday. Well worth the money for me. My cousin has one of the earliest Ipods. His battery started not working as long and he just found a kit online for 30 dollars that had a new battery and the parts to take the Ipod apart to put a new battery in.

I won't use it that often, however it's mainly going to be for my fiance. She's will use it much more than i will. We also figure that we can put our wedding pictures on there to show people without lugging the album around when that time comes...
