Default New GT 500

I just got back from the the Rochester Intl. Auto Show. They had a red gt500 on the turntable. To tell you the truth I really wasnt too impressed by it. Maybe it is because i dont like the new bodystyle, but i thought i would have liked the car in person. Im sure many of you disagree but I really dont like the new Mustang. I think that ford had a good thing going with 99-04 body style. I think ford tried way too hard to make it look like the old car. But it just isint the 60's anymore. Is it just me or does anyone else feel that way?

That motor is SO badass!!!! I dont think I could EVER get my 2V to keep up with a modded GT500...... 5.4 blown says it all.

Sure you can. I'm making more at the crank than the GT500's will. I havenot even done a forged bottom end and cranked up the boost or had headwork or cams done. It's all in how bad you want it and how much cash you're willing to spend for it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure no 2 valve could touch a modded GT500.....but then again it probably freaking weighs 5,000lbs! ha ha ha

I'm with ya dude, I don't really like the 05/06 stangs. I thought they would grow on me also, but they just haven't. I just think they look big and heavy. I pulled up to an 05/06 GT the other day and it just looked freaking big. However, I did see a couple of Roush's that looked pretty sweet along with a saleen. I think the other thing that turns me off is the attitude of some of the 05/06 GT drivers.....since a lot of them are "new" to mustangs it seems like they look down on any other stangs.

Does anyone know how many GT500's they plan on making this build cycle?

I love my new one, but am another one that isn't AMAZED by the
Shelby....outside of the motor being so great, it's just not that much different from the '05 or '06's for the money and you could catch it in one of those a far as hp goes for a lot less money.....The Shelby name is great, but the car itself and the interior came out lacking a little bit....maybe they should have gone back to the old school seats and the real wood interior or something to make it seem more "official"...... 28k on a new GT is one thing, but 50+k could surely be spent in a better way.

I didn't like the 05's and 06's until I saw pictures of the new Shelby. The front end looks so much better than the front end of the new GTs, plus they've got a supercharged 5.4L. So I don't know who wouldn't like them.

And Ford redid the Mustangs with the retro look to boost sales. Retro is selling in America right now, and especially when there's cars like the GTO and 05 Z06 out there, Ford knew that they definitely couldn't win buyers on speed, they had to go for style. Just my 2 cents.

PS-If any of that above doesn't make sense it's because I'm under the influence of strong cold medicine.

Just run into one yourself if you see one on the street. Then back up and do it again so it'll be totaled. LOL you'd for sure get it then

I posted pictures of that engine. Its going to be rediculous on what the capabilitys are. You see the supercharger size of it compared to the lightning and look what the lightning is capable of...
lol

Sorry but the cobra from the factory with its 475hp rating is a baby stroller. Wait till tuners get a hold of that car with intake, full exhaust, and pullies and its going to be a car that needs a rollcage with 700 bucks in mods.

just some info.... "The 450-horsepower, supercharged 5.4 liter V-8 will outperform the current SVT Cobra Mustang, which goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and tops out at 155 mph, according to a spokesman for Ford."

it does look heavy, but mean as f**k

That thing will be probably the most capable car on the street when it comes out. You could beat it with a blown C6 ZO6 but ur talkin big bucks for one of those.

Blown 5.4 w/Ford GT Heads. Come straight off the GT. That blower on the Ford GT is about as big as an average dog. We all know that the forged engine from the 03 cobra will handle 800hp. But were talkin about a 5.4 here. There have been dyno tests of forged and blown 5.4's that make upwards of 1100hp!!!!!! The heads will probably be about maxed out so no porting would be necessary.

Kenne Bell will have a blower kit for it. KB GT500s will be the fastest car on the street no doubt. It will get HORRIBLE gas mileage though. I couldnt afford one just because of the gas it would use. I didnt buy my stang for gas mileage but that thing would put me in the poorhouse.:surrender
