Going to Alcatraz this weekend. Hoping I can get some cool dramatic looking shots. For B&W shots, should I shoot it that way or shhot in color and change it in photoshop?

I think it's always just a personal preference thing when going to B&W.
I
like to shoot in color then do the B&W conversion in PP. Sometimes the color photo can turn out better than the B&W would, so I just like to have the option..but like I said, I think it's mainly personal preference.

I'll give it a try and shoot in color first. Seems like you have more options on editing in color anyways and then you can change it to B&W afterwards.

Shoot it in color and experiment with a bunch of different black + white presets in lightroom. Sometimes one black + white preset looks dull and others look amazing.

SWEEEET! Today I decided to pick up one of those Nikkor 35mm F/1.8 lenses from my local hobby shop. I'm so glad I did! The lens is seriously, the best prime I've ever used.
