Default Stall Convertor Help

I just installed a tranny cooler the other day, so I'm good here without worrying about heat build up.

Situation: More than likely I'm going to install a whole Performance Automatic Street/Strip Valvebody for 250 bux. I could just do the valvebody kit from PA for 50, but I would feel more comfy just bolting in a brand new body. It will be a fully automatic body still. My car is a 99% DD With this said, I need a little help with stall convertor.

Like siad before this is a major DD and I dont want anything to drastic. I'm majorly thinking the 11" stall from PA as well; cost $306.25 stall from 2000-2800. I feel this would be good for me I think. But I really do not know, and companies or specific stalls I should get please advise. What's the whole deal with lock up and non-lock up. And some of these prices are outrageous! I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, just something thats good quaility and will give me a little more with my auto. AGAIN my car is 99% DD

non lockup for DD is bad. i dont even think a aode will take a non lockup. performance industries makes some good peices. im sure 700-900 bucks is expected for a convertor of course those are the prices i was given for a 3200 stall multi disk. i found this lentech peice on ebay and got it for 400. it may be cheaper for a 2400-2800 stall i dont know. i think the stock convertor flashes at 2200? i could be wrong.

oh yeah dont buy directly from PA. go to jegs they have the best prices for PA's stuff. i could of got my tranny for 100 bucks cheaper.

I'm doing a lot of things, just need to plan it all out so I don't do something that would mess another thing up. It's about planning.

1.) Fix current body kit and new hood = 1300 bux
2.) Finish bolt ons and 4.10s w/ new tune = 1000
3.) Saleen wheels/tires and saleen wing = 2000
4 or 5.) Bullitt or Bilstein struts/shocks, subframe connectors, caster camber plates
4 or 5.) Tranny valvebody and stall convertor
6.) Finish suspension w/ control arms, bushings, sway bar, etc.
7.) Build and drop in a 5.4L SOHC

NOTE: This is over a 3 year time period, like I said, I really want to PLAN everything out and know what and where I'm going.

Also want to do a few more little customizing things, such as rear seat delete with subs taken out of trunk and mounted where seats used to be, a few interior pieces with Saleen parts, etc.

you need a lock-up for sure. I would get that used convertor thats in the classifieds made by dirty dog he is an awsome AODE tranny guy and builds tranny and deals with convertors too. either that or just get one that doesnt break the bank. keep in mind though if you wanna add nitrous etc.. you want a multi disc or it will fry the convertor.

PI 9.5" lock up converter with a 3200 stall. If you do the 4.10's, then a 2,800 maybe a little better for the street.

I was looking at PI, do I need the multi disc, if I get blown, it won't be for at least a couple years.

5.4 in the future? Your car will be manual steering and manual brakes at that point you realize? Not so good for DD. No room for the brake booster. Just a little FYI. J-mod your tranny and call it done. Unless your racing on slicks the converter isn't doing a whole lot for you.
