Default cabin heat eliminators

my car seems to suffer from excessive cabin heat near the feet of both pasenger and driver. it started after i had my mid pipe put in. not real hot, but enough to make me feel uncomfortable. i found some interior heat shields, and wonder if anyone has anything good or bad to say about them. and what all does the installation of these involve?
