Default Quick gear question

Has anyone rode in a mustang with 3.90's and 4.10's, Is there a noticeable difference between the two. The reason I'm asking is I'm about to order gears, and I'm having trouble decideing between the two.

there will be a very little rpm difference, but of course the 4.10 will pull harder. if your not gonna spay or add a blower its a good gear choice.

I've heard people say that it increases 1-2 mpg, but I find that hard to believe.

If you can keep your foot out of the trap then yes, it is possible because you can get to your overdrive gear a bit quicker.

in the city you get better MPG cause the motor doesnt have ot work hard to get the car moving. on the highway cause of the extra revs it burns a bit more gas, basicly 1-2 gain in the city and lose 2-3 on the highway is about normal.

that wouldn't necessarily be the same with an auto, say I was going 40mph, (maybe that's not technically city drving), I'm at 1,200 or so RPM in 4th. With 4.10 I might be at like 1,400RPM.

So you think its not a good idea to get 4:10's if your gonna spray?

Cause I planned on gettting that Venom 1000 kit and moslty use the 90 shot. with 4:10's.....is that do-able.....

anyone have spray with 4:10's? hows teh experience at the track with those 2 ?

I'm sorry if i worded that wrong i mean i wouldnt do 4.10's with spray on regual street tires its gonna spin so badly it will just make you angrey unless you run a good drag radial you will be sad with all the tire spin. My freinds v6 has 4.10's witha 100shot needs to say 1st and half way of 2nd are not useable and he hates it he wishes he had goen 3.73 to keep the wheel spin down, but with my drag radails on his car really hooks and moves.

i'm considering a 75 shot and i already have the 4.10's. is it going to be too much? i probably wouldnt spray in first because it's so short. what do you recommend?

ok thanks...lol

I just got my 17x10.5 rear rims in..imma use the Nitto DR's also. cause I know imma need that traction.

shyt......this past summer i went to the track with a JLT intake, Accufab plenum/accufab 70mm Throttle body, MAC catted H-pipe, Flowmater cat back, and a SCT chip. And my nitto 555 street tires spun so much with me launching just at 1500 RPMS...and at WOT in 1st the whole way I would Spin like friggin crazy..the tires broke loose so easily. I had horrible 60' times that hurt my 1/4 mile time badly. I could be easily in the mid to high 13's, but the tires fukked that up.

So next year imma be ready with My nitto DR's and see how that goes with the 4:10's that will go in soon.

im hoping for mid to low 13's.
