O/R = too rich?

O/R = too rich?
Just a theory- when you run an off road midpipe, you use mil eliminators to "eliminate" the check engine light that would indicate a rich condition. You still have teh rich condition whether the light is on or off. The mils just bypass the signal to the check light right? Since the car is now running rich, is there a negative long term effect of installing an O/R pipe?
I came up with this question after notice the inside of my tailpipes are carboning up. My mom's unmolested stang had like 20,000 miles on it and you could still read teh lettering inside the tailpiping.

How the fudge do you guys know all this stuff, I just found out a month ago that the 4.6 has 2 cams and doesn't have pushrods, lifters, rockers. I guess when you're stuck in chevy-land all you know is chevy motors. Ford world is a lot better, the average schlub can actually afford to mod their car.
