Default Engine Light On - Camshaft Position Sensor?

Hi there,
Last week I went to fill my car up with gas, but the gas pump clicked off even though I had only filled my tank halfway. I tried to continue pumping, but it kept clicking off, and my gas seemed to want to spill back out. I knew it wasn't full, and sure enough, when I started back up, my tank was only half filled up. So I didn't bother trying it again.

The next day I got in my car, and the check engine light was on. Thinking that it had something to do with the gas situation, I checked a forum online to see if anyone else had the same experience as I did. Someone recommended to try tilting the pump while fueling the next time, and when I did, it allowed me to fill up and the check engine light went off.

However, when I was about down to 1/4 tank, I felt my car slightly hesitate or jerk for a moment while driving. As soon as it did, I looked at my gauges and saw the check engine light come back on. So I took it to Advanced Auto to get the light checked. The Camshaft Position Sensor code came up.

I'm just wondering why the light would go off because of my gas, and then randomly come back on? Has anyone else had a similar problem? I just want to make sure I'm correcting the right problem, and not spend hundreds of dollars trying to target what's wrong.

Thanks!
