im currently doing a 5.4l 4v swap in my 4.6! PM birdman941 this guy will get you all squared away. most of the treads on here are for a 5.4 2v swap. still very helpful but theres more work to be done with a 4v swap.

but to start off look for an 01 navi block! if you get that youll be ahead of the game!

that about covers it. I'd ask most of the questions in the big swap thread... most of the 5.4 geeks are in there.

you can use ANY 97-03 5.4 block. If you don't start with a navi block you'll need to drill a hole or have it drilled for you during machining (standard 4v swap stuff).

Heads you'll want to decide now between navi heads and C mustang heads or even B heads. This choice decides which intakes you can or must use. Choose carefully. I'd go with 03 cobra heads.

don't think about it being a 5.4 swap, think of it being a 4v swap that happens to be 5.4L

Maximum Motorsports k-member spacers (1/2" max for you) will help with the hood clearance and brake booster clearance and clutch cable clearance and all that jazz. They're not mandatory but very helpful and <100 bucks.

thats correct! again the c heads (99-04) castings but look for some 04 castings somewhere in the year they came with 9thread spark plug holes! thats better but again you can just go to a machine shop and have that fixed.

if you go with the 03-04 cobra heads you can use an aussie intake off the boss 260-330 motors in austrailia. again birdman941 can get them and he also sells a whole 5.4 4v swap kit. the intake is a cousin to the 200 cobra r. the sullivan is mostly used but not a recommendation from me! talk to people who have used it and get their opinion.

like stated above dont think of it as a 5.4 4v swap but a 4v swap with a 5.4. this is because there is some time involved and alot of parts to to the 4v swap with a 5.4!

GOOD LUCK! Post pics when you start!

I need to start doing 5.4 swap research, just in case.

Someday maybe, since I'll never go FI a built up motor would be my option.

I don't think you want the 94 heads, they're first gen. There's no 4v 5.4 intake for B heads that I know of.

Look for C heads. You'll make better power and they're not really any more expensive but at least you can find an intake manifold that'll work

yea red is right! forget the b heads! if your going to to the swap take your time and do it right! time is the key here. again remember that there will be alot of parts as well as the motor and its components.

again red is right you have more options with the c heads and they are the better heads of choice for this 5.4 power plant! if you wait and hold out you can find parts cheap. i saw heads for 500 bucks and up to 1k so just wait and hold out and gather parts as your funds become available!

The right set of C heads will be way better. Try 03 cobra heads or 03 Mach 1 heads or gt500 heads. After that, 99-01 cobra and then navigator. That should make the intake choices the easiest. You need to talk to the guys in the main swap forum though... there's a couple 4v swaps going on.

First thing I'd do is choose what intake manifold route you're going to go. That will determine what heads you CAN and CAN NOT use.
