how to: paint mirrors?
I'm curious to how this looks. I know some people do it and I think it looks real good. Question is how to. Can I do them or would i have to take them to a body shop. Could I sand them down real good and paint them myself. I'm not sure what i can paint them with that's why I'm asking. Any input would be appreciated.
Yup it can be done...
DSG Painted Mirrors
I did mine last year, I wet sanded mine so they were smooth, primer them, then smooth out any areas that are imperfect with a lighter grade of wet sanding and primer again, and went and bought the correct paint color for my car and had a friend paint them for me and clear them. They are actually needing done again, I have a spare set that came on the car in the shed that I was thinking about having re-done again.
And actually I followed this guys directions when I did them, surprised I found the link to his site after all this time, I did everything but take the mirror out of the housing, I just taped the mirror off really good with blue painters tape.

Yeah I thought about that when I was first doing this too, but damn they sure are pricey and I can think of $300 more dollars I could spend somewhere else!
what you should do and what I had done was, get a spare pair of side mirrors someone might be selling and then have those painted, and then if you dont like them you can still swap them out and will also have a backup pair.
